How To Handle Symptoms, Causes of Monday Morning Syndrome


Here I mention a common and interesting phenomenon experienced by students as well as working s, after finishing of weak end, and first day on start of a new week. Generally this day is Monday, thats why psychologist have named it as Monday Syndrome or Monday Morning Syndrome

Week end is over now


Some people experience it more than others. People feel as if their week end has finished too early. The concept of week end is, a working professional or an student should feel more relaxed, and refreshed on start of next week, as compared to how he was on Friday, or Saturday, of last week end. Instead, if one feels more stressed and anxious on Monday, It is not a desirable symptom at all, and it must be handled carefully, because it results in the degradation of performance at work place, school or college, that otherwise would have been much better.

How to identify if we have Monday Morning Syndrome


Most common symptom that is seen in people suffering from Monday morning syndrome is, tiredness, stress and anxiety. Some people even experience physical illness also. They are anxious about the unforeseen events that one has to face today, including traffic rush, behavior of his boss or teachers or even colleagues or classmates he is not having good rapport with.

Causes that are responsible for the situation


The factors that cause Monday Morning Syndrome, are mostly psychological. Those employees or students, who are hard working and confidant are less or not at all affected by this problem.It does not mean that people who feel stress on Monday mornings are always less competent, some times students have not fully completed homework , or people could not complete assigned project last week due to whtever reason, are more prone to this experience.
Most of the people have outing on weekends, have some party or eating outs, generally we have the tendency of breaking our own rules regarding food habits, may be in terms of quantity, or hiegene, spicy food etc, and we experience some indigestion problem that may also cause symptoms of Monday syndrome.

How can we overcome

Try following suggestions to handle Monday Morning Syndrome. They will certainly help to tackle it.

  • We can start with maintaining habits. Keep maintaining your food habits even if you are enjoying a party. Not all party dishes are unhealthy, you can select from hygienic and healthy food.

  • Time managements is the master key to all unforeseen events. Always try to complete the job at hand before leaving to your weekend party, rather than keep them pending. With some unfinished job in mind, you will not find yourself enjoying to the fullest.

  • Have regular physical exercise. Make it a habit, Believe me, it helps a lot. If you are in a habit of regular physical exercise, on Monday morning you will feel more relaxed and confidant than your fellow beings, because physical exercise cause to secret stress reducing hormones in body, that eventually result in better performance.

  • Some Yoga postures, pranayam and meditation techniques are developed especially for working people, that may be exercised even at work place also , and able to reduce stress miraculously to a minimum level.

  • If you still feel that even these techniques are not able to help you out, and you feel abnormally nervous not only Mondays but most of the time, do not delay a single day to consult your physician or some psychologist, because it may be a symptom of some critical desease in body that requires proper treatment
