Side effects of beauty products!
This article is about the side effects of beauty and hair care products. The beauty products contain various types of chemicals which can be harmful for the skin. That is why natural beauty products are always given preference over chemical products. This article includes various types of beauty products used and the chemicals present in the products.
Eye-shadow is used to enhance the beauty of eyes. Eye-shadow contains about 26 different kinds of chemicals. Polyethylene is the chief chemical present in it.
It causes cancer, infertility, hormonal imbalance and it may also damage the body parts.
Polymethyl methacrylate is present as a chief chemical in the foundation and besides this 23 other chemicals are also present.
Foundation may have a bad effect on the immune system of the body and it may cause allergy and cancer.
Lipstick contains about 33 chemicals, and polymethyl methacrylate is the most harmful among them. In addition to lipstick and lip balm, petroleum is also used in hair products.
These chemicals may be responsible for different types of allergies and cancer.
4. Body lotions
Body lotion contains about 32 chemicals. The chief chemicals present in body lotions are methylparaben, propylparaben and polyethylene glycol. Parabens are mainly used in make-up kits and moisturizers.
These chemicals cause skin problems, rashes and may also cause breast cancer.
5. Fake tan
It contains about 22 chemicals. Ethyl paraben, methyl paraben and propyl paraben are the chief chemicals present in fake tan.
These chemicals produce hormonal imbalance, skin rashes and many other problems.
6. Nail polish
Nail polish contains about 31 chemicals. Phthalate is the most harmful chemical present in the nail polish.
This may cause infertility. This chemical is so fatal that this may constrain the growth of the developing embryo in the mother's womb.
7. Hair spray
Hair spray contains about 11 chemicals including octinoxate and isophthalate.
These chemicals may cause different types of allergies, irritation in eyes, nose and throat, hormonal imbalance and destruction of cells and tissues. Thus, hair spray should not be used frequently and its use should be minimized.
Chemicals like DEA (Diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine) and TEA (Triethanolamine) are mainly used in creamy and foam producing products like shampoos. It contains about 15 chemicals. Sodium lauryl sulphate, Tetrasodium and Propylene glycol are also included in chief chemicals present in shampoos.
These chemicals increase the risk of cancer. Irritation in eyes or redness in eyes can also be seen as a side effect. Eyes should be kept close while using the shampoo.
It contains about 16 chemicals including ethyl paraben and propyl paraben.
These chemicals may cause hormonal imbalance, skin rashes and many other problems.
It contains about 15 chemicals. Isopropyl myristate is the most harmful chemical present in the deodorants.
These chemicals may cause nausea, headache and problems related to eyes, skin, lungs and respiratory problems.
It contains more than 250 chemicals including Benzaldehyde.
These chemicals may cause asthma, problems related to mouth, throat and eyes, nausea and kidney related problems.
Other harmful chemicals
1. Coal tar dye
P-phenylenediamine is used in hair dyes, this chemical is responsible for cancer.
2. Cyclomethicone and Siloxanes
There chemicals are mainly used in moisturizers, make-up and hair products. These chemicals may cause hormonal imbalance and liver dysfunction.
This chemical is used in antibacterial products like toothpaste, soap and hand sanitizers. These chemicals constrain the hormone functions and the resistance of antibiotics also decreases.
4. Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) and Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
SLES is highly used in shampoos and cleansers. This chemical may cause cancer. SLS causes liver dysfunction.
This chemical is present in conditioners, moisturizers and deodorants. This increases the risk of cancer.
