Internal sources of recruitment are those in which recruitment is performed within the organization in which the person or employee is working through transfer or promotion. But, in case of external sources of recruitment, the person is recruited outside the organization through agencies, educational institutes, management consultants, etc.
Difference between internal and external sources of recruitment:
Internal Sources:
Internal sources of recruitment include selecting of members within the organization to place in another department or to some higher level position through promotion or transfer.
1. It is a quick process.
2. It involves search of candidates within the organization.
3. This process is cheaper i.e. less cost is associated with this.
4. Internal recruitment does not include any cost.
5. The existing staff are motivated to improve their performance.
6. Internal sources help in saving time of official responsibility for recruitment.
External Sources:
External sources include selection of candidates outside the organization to be placed on vacant positions for recruitment. These candidates may be recruited from educational institutes through campus placements, management consultants, labour contractors, agencies or through paper advertisements, etc.
1. It is slow and lengthy process.
2. It involves search of candidates outside the organization.
3. This process is expensive.
4. External recruitment involves cost of taking campus, placement cells, etc.
5. The workers feel dis-satisfied if external sources are used.
6. External process is more time consuming as compared to internal process of recruitment.
