Introduction
An information system is the combined creation of a diverse group of people working under the umbrella of a software project. An in-depth understanding of the issues peculiar to this context is required education for a project manager.
Program Goal
Recognise and avoid the classic mistakes of development practices
Identify and control various project risks
Elicit requirements using various techniques
Facilitate a brainstorm
Arrive at an initial baseline using priority-effort-risk estimation
Analyse and elaborate a business context with use cases
Estimate the effort required to implement a feature
Participate in a contract negotiation
Plan a project using the work breakdown structure
Create a test plan from the refined use cases
Conduct a formal review of project artifacts
Implement a GQM-based metrics effort at the project level
Establish quality control and assurance programs
Manage change on an ongoing basis

Software crisis, peopleware, project sociology, development methodologies
Requirements elicitation, problem definition, artificial intelligence methods
Use case approach, meetings and workshops, contract negotiation
Estimation techniques, project planning and scheduling, formal reviews
Testing and debugging, project metrics, QA, project manager conduct
Participant Profile
Senior software professionals with good interpersonal skills are an appropriate fit for this EDP. Participants must have witnessed at least four years of software development in various positions, preferably as team leads or architects.
