2012 DAAD scholarships for Postgraduate Courses in Germany

The Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD), also known as the German Academic Exchange Service, is offering Indians scholarships for higher studies in Germany for Postgraduate Courses with Special Relevance to
Developing Countries. The candidate can do a Post Graduate degree course in a select subject. Successful applicants will get the opportunity to work on projects in collaboration with German researchers, practitioners & scientists in diverse fields.

Duration: 12- 24 months

Scholarship Features

  • The stipend is Euro 750.00 per month
  • You will get a lump sum towards air fare from India to Germany & back
  • You will be exempt from payment of university tuition fees
  • You will get a subsidy for study and research
  • You will avail of compulsory health insurance covered by DAAD
  • You can undertake a free 1 to 6 months German Language Course in Germany
  • You will get tuition, boarding, lodging plus pocket allowance during the period of the German language course (prior to your studies)


Eligibility: You should be a well-qualified graduate with a 4-year degree awarded not more than 3 years ago in any discipline with a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

Other requirements:
1. There should not be a more than 6 years gap between the award of your last degree and application deadline (31st July 2011).
2. You should not be older than 36 years (individual courses will have their own age limit).
3. The language competencies for courses in German are: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 for courses in English: TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based) or IELTS (band 6) certificate.
4. You should be residing in India at the time of application.
