In this article I have discussed about the importance of developing tourism in India.India is surrounded by seas and great Himalayan Mountains in addition to natural forests and traditional cultures. Some of the important benefits of tourism have been shortly described in this write up.

What is tourism mean? Tourism is the authorized commercial organization and operation of holidays and visits to places of interest. The tour operators provide package cost to the domestic and foreign tourists which include transportation, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, sight visits, health services and entertainments during entire travel program.
Why tourism is important in India? Now a days tourism has become one of the largest industry through out the world according to World Tourism Organization promoting country's revenues as well as employment generations.

More than 5 millions of foreign and about 550 millions of domestic tourists visit annually many attractive tourist spot situated at different states in India generating foreign currencies at the annual rate of nearly 9% strengthening India's economy in foreign exchange.
Tourism in India contributes of more than 6% to India's national GDP and above 8.75% of total employment opportunity to young generations.

India has become the most popular destination to domestic and foreign travelers and tourists for her historical culture and natural resources like wide spread Himalayan Mountains, sea beaches, Sundarban forest, wild life, rivers, deserts and many historical palaces, forts, temples etc.
Top tourist destination by region in India •Andaman & Nicobar Islands Andaman & Nicobar Islands is situated about 1000 kilometers away from the east coast of India on Bay of Bengal sea. Havelock Island is one of the most attractive tourist spot to visit. Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar Islands is connected with Chennai and Kolkata by regular air flights. Regular to and fro ship services also connect Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam sea ports. Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India also allows foreign charter flights to land at Port Blair subject to fulfillment of necessary guide lines for foreign visitors.
