Initially there was only one call possible through Gmail but the innovation and research Gmail has introduced multiple calling system, which is not a conference calling yet. But this facility is only allowing you to put one call on hold and answer the other simultaneously, and you can just resume the call on hold with the option of resume.

This feature allows you to switch between the calls and enables you to make call while one call is on hold.

This facility by Gmail can be used with voice, video and to phone calls. The major drawback with this facility is that you can only make two outgoing calls on the physical phone. The only competitor of Gmail is Skype now a part of Microsoft which has added the video calling facility on Facebook that too enabling it with Android devices also.
