Training Programme on
Information Technology and Soft Skills
13 May 2008 – 11 July 2008
The Programme
With a view to meet the immediate trained human resource requirements of the IT & ITES industries, it is
proposed to set up a chain of finishing school programmes for engineering graduates. As per the directives
of MHRD, Government of India, NITs and IITs will conduct finishing school programmes during May-June
2008 ,as was done by some of them last year. This effort has the twin objectives of (i) offering suitable
candidates to the IT industry and (ii) helping young graduates find jobs through appropriate training.
Therefore the purpose of this training is to enhance and sharpen the required skills among engineering
graduates and make them employable in the IT & ITES industry.. The details of the finishing school
proposed to be conducted at NIT Calicut are as follows:

• Data Structures, OOPS ,Information Systems and Modeling
• Communication ,Management , Employability and Soft Skills
• Basics of Business
• Programming Skills
Resource Persons
Faculty Members from NIT Calicut, and experts from the IT industry.
Eligibility
Engineering graduates of any branch/discipline, who have completed their course in the year 2007(and not
yet employed), from a recognized Institute/College from Kerala, with more than 60% marks(aggregrate)

Fee Details
Course Fee : Rs. 7000/- (Rs.3500/- for SC/ST Candidates)
Caution Deposit : Rs.1000/-
Food for non-residential candidates : Rs 2000/
Food & Accommodation for residential candidates : Rs.5000/-
Selection
Selection is based on the academic performance in the B.Tech. Degree examinations. Reservations will be
as per Government of India Norms.
The List of Selected Candidates will be notified in the Institute web site www.nitc.ac.in on or before
7th May 2008.
The selected participants have to report at NIT Calicut at 9.00 a.m. on 13th May 2008, with the originals of
the following documents:
• Proof of date of birth
• Original B.Tech. Degree Certificate and mark-lists
• Proof of Category (SC/ST) issued by a Competent Authority
• DD for the total amount drawn in favour of “Course Director ,Finishing School-2008” , payable at State
Bank of India, NIT Calicut branch. (Code: 02207 )
The original certificates will be returned immediately after verification. The amount paid, except the caution
deposit, will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Food & Accommodation
Accomodation and food will be arranged in the NITC hostels for outstation candidates. Beddings are to be
brought by the participants.
Only working lunch and tea will be provided to non-residential candidates.
Application Forms
The duly filled up application forms ( given in the next sheet /its photostat) along with the attested copies
of the relevant documents and a demand draft drawn in favour of ““Course Director ,Finishing School-2008”
payable at SBI,NIT Calicut Branch (Code: 02207), towards the application fee of Rs.100/- (Rs.50/- for
SC/ST/candidates) should reach us on or before 1st May 2008 in the following address:
