This article I am writing because I find lot many child labours on the tea shops etc. I found that their masters used to scold and beat them very much but when it come to money they only pay a very low salary to them. Is it write to just watch this and do not make complaints for these peoples.
Child:Future of tomorrow, Save them now.
Long years ago Wordsworth said that,
"Child is the father of man".
Moreover, it is the child who is a citizen of tomorrow. It is in the condition of a child that there lies the future of any society or nation. Children are the mirrors of the society. The quality of life os a child reflects how progressive a society is. With the end of 20th century , one of the challenges that has appeared globally is the problem of Child labour. Millions of children in the world have been forced into child labour. Child Labour may be defined as one who has not yet attained the age of 14 years and whose physica, mental and social development has suffered due to pre-mature employment. Children make 36% of the country's total population. Due to various circumstances, these are the very same children are exploited and are forced to forget the pleasures of childhood and by necessity are out on the streets to work. At the stage when they should be going to schools or playing at playgrounds, these children are burdened with the hardships of life and are denied theit childhood. A report published by World Bank in 2000 states that there are six crores working children in India- largest in terms of any country in the world. These children work in agricultural farms and lands or are engaged in conventional industries occupatuions.
Child labour is one of the social evils that has been crippling the Indian society since a very long time. Its presence can be felt everywhere you go-be it a rural village or a metropolitan city. The small scale industries form the breeding grounds for child labour. These children are in almost every sector of our economy-both organized and un-organized. A large number of children are working in mines, carpet, match, fireworks, brass and automobiles industries. The automobile repair-shop industry is one that every one sees in his daily life. We can see these shops in every corner. Young children are being illegally employes in such professions as they could be paid less.
What Government is doing for controlling Child Labour?
Elimination of child labour is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges facing our country. Various articles had been made till the date which probihit the employment of children in factories and any where else.
Under Article 24,
it has been stated that
no child below the age of 14 shall be employed in any factory or mine or any other hazardous occupation or work.
Similarly,
Article 31
provides that
the State shall ensure that adolescent children are not forced to accept an employment detrimental to their age and physical physical ability owing to economic compulsions.
Conclusion
The Government, media and NGOs have to unite to play their proper role in this holistic task. Only the the problem of child labour can be solved effectively. Common people can register the complaints for the people who are providing labour to children.
