NIOS online admission for X and XII Stream I for April 2012 exam

How to apply for exams conducted by National Institute of Open Schooling in India? Where can I find the list of NIOS study centers? The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. It is an Examination Board of the Govt. of India which is on par with CBSE and CISCE Boards. It is through NIOS also that home schooled children in India can appear for exams.

NIOS has announced registration for NIOS online admission for Secondary (X) and Senior Secondary (XII) (Stream I), for which the exam will be conducted in April 2012. Students can also opt for offline admission through nearby NIOS Accredited institutions (AIs) / Regional Centers / Sub-Centers.

Important Note: Students should not enroll for NIOS through any unauthorized agencies or agents.

Features of NIOS for Std. X and Std. XII Stream I

  • Admission valid for 5 years
  • You can choose your NIOS study centre
  • You have a choice of subjects
  • You can transfer your credits (up to 2 subjects passed from selected recognized Boards and up to 4 subjects if passed through NIOS)
  • There is accumulation of credits

    A. Secondary (Class X) Course, Stream I, Block I
  • Date of Admission: up to 31st August, 2011 without late fee / up to 15th September, 2011 with late fee of Rs.200/-
  • Eligibility Criteria: (i) 14 years of age as on 31st July, 2011; (ii) Class VIII passed or Self-Certificate (as prescribed by admission form).

  • B.Senior Secondary (Class XII) Course, Stream I, Block I
  • Date of Admission: up to 31st August, 2011 without late fee / up to 15th September, 2011 with late fee of Rs.200/-
  • Eligibility Criteria: (i) 15 years of age as on 31st July, 2011; (ii) Secondary (Xth) passed from any recognized Board.
