Farmers Day And Malayalam New Year

According to Malyalam calender we are celebrating the new year in Chingam[sravana] month. This day have more importance related to agriculture and this day is celebrated as farmers day and malyalm new year at the same time. This article contains the importance of the day.



Farmers day and New year


Chingam 1st is celebrated as new year day for malyalees especially related agriculture. Also it is known as farmers day. This day is very important for the farmers and they will start their works from this day. They will buy the seeds or or stored seeds and apply the field in this day. According to Malyalam there are two new year in one year. May be you feel funny about this but it is called new year in respect to agriculture. A farmer in a year will do two time agriculture. It is the time for to start work at the field who have rice in their field.Also they will start mid term agriculture especially vegetables in this time. So we should aware about this importance of the day. In related to farmers the new year starting from this month. Now it is celebrated in this 17 th of august and farmers collected seeds from different places for their work.This day is celebrated everywhere in Kerala according to their believes and myths.Also this time is best for farmers because raining will be there and it help to germinate seeds as fast. And with in three months they can get profit from midterm crops.Now recently the importance of this day going down because most of the people didn't know about this farmers day. Also in Malayalam there are two new years once in the time of Vishu and one in this month. Usually this is calculated as a new year. Also it is celebrated mostly because of Onam in this month. Now old age people only giving more importance to this.Young generation not giving any imporatance for this malayalam calender.
