Hi All,
Beware of unknown persons, see the incident mentione in the below mail written by Sivaramakrishna.Pilli, who worked in Infosys.
Hi All ,
It is my sincere advise to all not to offer any sort of food or water to unknown person who knock your door at night. Any wrong thing may happen to any of you as it is about to happened to me on last Friday (11-04-2008).The incident went like this….
At 9.30 PM a unknown person came to my house and buzz the bell (House is in Kunal Icon).I went and responded, then he requested me a glass of water. I found he was tired enough and hence gave water with a bottle after opened the safety door. He took only two sips and given back the water bottle and went away. I shut the safety door with main door is still opened. Two mins later that guy again came and buzz the bell, I went and asked him what you want . I did not opened the safety door this time. He told that he wants to come in. I asked why…He replied I just want to come in. I asked little loudly what is your problem. Then he pulled up front portion of his shirt and shown a pistol which is about 8 inches long and said this is the problem by pointing to the pistol. I shocked for a moment and immediately said no and go away and closed the main door as well as balcony door for a precaution.
Immediately I phoned up security at main gate and narrated the incident.30 mins later security personal along with society persons came to my block and we all discussed about this incident and after that we informed to Police with a written complaint.
Though I was not knowing the exact intention of that person, but a unknown person carrying a deadly weapon is certainly a threat to easily targetable people like us (IT people) especially during night hours.
So I would request you all take extra precautions while you're at and away from home and inform concerned as soon as you feel situation is not normal.
Best Regards,
Sivaramakrishna.Pilli

It is our primary role to be security conscious and take extra precaution on who you allow access to your house even from the gate not to talk of the main entrance to the house. Try to know your neighbours and their occupations to save you from criminally minded neighbours. Ensure your house is well guarded and lighted to deter prospective threat to your house.

Hello Shreshta, Thanks for telling us all of your predicament at your house. It is really scary for me because we are two elderly people living alone at home. But the only relief is that we have a dalmatian at home. She would not let anyone in to the house, unless and until she recognises the person. It is really good to have a pet at home if you can stand dogs. They are really friendly and will be with you in the hour of need. People who carry deadly weapons, should not be allowed to roam about in the night.

This kind of incident is happenning all over the place. I have been telling about security in our apartments for a long time. I keep telling my husband that we need to put grill to all the balconies (we have 4) and our house is in first floor. I just cant imagine things happenning when we are alone at home be it day or night. I have to be alone with kids for days together as my husband goes on tour constantly. Though we have watchman day and night, we just cant be sure when things will happen.
Yes, it is a lesson to be learned. Not just at night but even in the day time, every one of us have to take care of our safety.
