Let's begin the trip to Guwahati which is also called the daughter of Brahmaputra.

Brahmputra

Air route: One can reach Guwahati by the Indian Airlines and Jet Airways services.

Rail route: One could reach Guwahati from Delhi by the 'Rajdhani Express', 'North East Express', 'Brahmaputra Mail etc

Road route: This is connected by road to other eastern states.

Location/surrounding

Situated at the banks of the River Brahmputra, Guwahati is the capital of Assam. Its name during the olden times, this was the capital city of Kamrup kings and its name then used to be 'Pragjyotishpur'. The River Brahmputra flowing down from near its vicinity adds four colours to its beauty.

It's no less than an adventure watching the nearby jungles, the rare sights and sceneries to be found herein and the different rare varieties of species of birds and animals. As for that matter, Guwahati is also the centre of commercial hub as well.

Kajiranga National Park: Nature and wild life are the centre of attraction for all and sundries, although the joy of watching the wild animals and birds in the very lap of nature is altogether a unique experience of its kind. If you want to see the wild birds and animals from close by wandering openly in the knees of jungle in stead of seeing them enclosed in boxes in a zoo, then do not forget visiting the 'Kaziranga National Park' which is famous through out the world attracting tourists from inland and abroad.
Spreading around in an area of 430 sq km, this park is at a distance of 96 km from Jorhat and 217 km from Guwhati.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit this place is from November to April.
