Medical transcription is a process of conversion of voice in to text format. Doctors in the United States have to maintain records of all their interaction with the patients. These medical records are required for processing insurance claims and for external referrals.
The doctors dictate the details of the patient's condition, diagnosis, treatment plan, etc., into a recording device. A Medical Transcriptionist is a person one who would listen to this audio recording and transcribe the content using a computer into text format.
India is emerging as a preferred destination to out source the transcription work because of the advantage of English-speaking manpower, low cost, and time zone difference as there is 11 hours gap between US and India (we are ahead).
