The article summarizes the current problem regarding ‘Global Warming’ which is causing havoc all around the world. We often see the reports regarding ice caps melting, rising sea level, extinction of polar bears. The topic has become a debatable issue for everyone at the national as well as at the international level. The article makes you aware of this problem as well as gives you the suggestions for avoiding further problems.

Global Warming! A big issue :

In our present world and in our daily life we are often encountered by problems in some or the other way for example diseases, accidents, robbery and much more. It takes us much time to come out of those problems only then we feel a sigh of relief. In the same manner there are various environmental problems causing much havoc in our life too for example air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, land pollution and much more and among those comes one of the most debatable issue and that is 'Global Warming'. The word simply means 'earth is becoming warm' not simply 'warm' but means the increase of the global temperature at a large manner. When the radiations from sun enter earth they are partially absorbed and partially reflected. The reflected rays stay on earth and continuously heat up the earth causing global warming. In our daily life we often see reports of sudden increase in the temperature resulting in melting of ice caps and glaciers, rising sea level, and extinction of polar bears. All these are happening only due to global warming which is an important topic to discuss at the national and international level or one day might come when humans will be on the verge of extinction.

Impacts caused due to global warming :

The rising problem of global warming has caused many impacts at global level. Due to increase in the temperature it has caused the ice caps and glaciers to melt which is causing the rise in the level of sea water which is resulting in extinction of polar bears as well as penguins and many of them do not have the habitat to survive. Phytoplankton's plays significant role for polar bears and penguins and when they die the survival of these are under threat. Global warming is also caused due to ozone depletion and the present survey shows a large ozone hole over Antarctica and is becoming large due to excess use of CFC's which stands for Chloro fluro carbons which is present in perfumes, refrigerants as well as aerosol propellants and is the main factor causing ozone depletion further causing the earth to heat up due to harmful ultraviolet radiations from the sun resulting in several problems. Air conditioners also contain CFC's further increasing the problems.

Suggestions :

The time has come to take the measures to control the effects causing global warming. The topic must be discussed at the national and international level. There have been several actions taken in the past years which are 'Montreal Protocol' and 'Kyoto Protocol' which discussed the topic among all nations and to find solutions to stop global warming. At school level students can be taught about this problem by taking them to conferences, participating in rallies and campaigns to show interest in spreading awareness among people. Switch off your ac's when not required and also purchase air conditioners those emit low CFC's as well as having maximum energy efficiency. The same is the case with refrigerators too. Perfumes and aerosol propellants must be used at minimum level. It is predicted that due to average surge in the global temperature the sea level will increase and on day the whole New York will be under water. So the need of the hour is to take action and spread the awareness.
