The first thing that I remember about my childhood is watching my mother taking care of the sheep that belonged to our master. Our master was a very good shepherd. I used to be a puppy when all this was happening. I loved to run all around and play with my siblings when I was a puppy. My master was very kind to us and fed us with lot of meat and water. We all lived near the hillside, near a huge grassland, where the sheep are taken for grazing.
Right from the childhood days itself, I was very interested in looking after the flock of sheep, which belonged to my master. I always wanted to take the post of my mother and protect my master's flock when my mother reached old age. My master had realised my interest right from the beginning and had started my training since I was a puppy. He loved me so much and cared me a lot more than my siblings.
As I grew up, my master began teaching me different signals to control his flock. He had a whistle with him, with which he made different types of sounds with different lengths. For example, a long meant to take the flock to the grasslands for grazing, while a short one meant to return them back to the fold at night. In addition to these signals, he also taught me several hand signals, which enabled me to do certain extra things like splitting the flock into two groups and so on. I was so happy to take the charge of the flock when my mother wanted rest.
Finally my mother reached old age and needed rest. The responsibility to look after the flock came over into my hands. I was so happy to take over the responsibility. Everyday, I would take the flock to the grassland and would return them back to the fold at night. During the nights, along with my brothers, I would guard the flock against wolves and other enemies.
As I continued my job as 'the dog of the flock', soon I started to understand each and every sheep. I was able to separate any particular sheep from the remaining ones. My master was so happy with this unique ability of mine. It also made his job a lot easier. Now, I am still in charge of my master's flock. I live a very happy life with my family and my master. The flock is happy and healthy too, like never before. Everyday, after returning from the grassland, I would tell my mother everything that happened on that day, just like a story. My mother would listen to my story very sharply. I love my mother a lot.
