With the summer season at its peak, everyone is consuming water like a thirsty man in desert. But in the midst of all these attempts to avoid dehydration, we very vividly happen to neglect our diet! Of course, the body requires sufficient amount of water to replenish the lost fluids, yet it requires specific nutrition too! In this connection, I am introducing facts about some useful diets that will definitely turn your summer cool.

Diets to make your summer cool-

Vegetables- The vegetables that contain greater amount of water should occupy the top positions in our list. These include onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower and sprouts. These serve to cool our body internally and at the same time provide the requisite quota of nutrition .

Non Veg-For those who cannot do without their quota of meat, should try eating fish. This is far better than chicken, red meat and other such items as it contains fatty acids such as Omega 3 and Omega 6.

Gooseberry- Amla is not only a very good refresher but also it counters the ageing effects caused by sun and provides additional stamina for gym sessions. In addition to this, it strengthens the heart, hair and many other glands of our body to keep them cool and healthy.

Apricot- For those who are prone to skin breaking or acne in summer , apricot can prove significantly helpful. It provides iron, vitamin C, potassium and fibre. Hence, it deserves to be enjoyed as a great pre or post –workout snack.

Buttermilk-It is far better than diet soda. It is a great summer drink and regular one glass use of it surely avoids dehydration and digestion issues.

Cardamom -Though it looks no further than a cup of elachi chai for an instant cool down, they possess wonderful detoxifying properties to very effectively cool down even the most heated days. Have a fun enjoying it!

Corn- Pop some corn as it is rich source of pantothenic acid, which provides vitamin B helpful in lowering stress levels. Boiled corn serves as a great snack or a lunch takeaway because it decreases cholesterol levels and is rich in essential carbs.

Mango - I mavoid you to simply skip Katrina's aamsutra adverts and focus directly on the actual fruit itself. Chilled mangoes cool the body well and even if you seem interested a bit of spice, go for trying this- Unripe mangoes provide pectin. Steam and juice with cumin(jeera) and salt constitute an excellent remedy from heat stroke and exhaustion.

Soyabeans- They are essentially rich sources of protein and help prevent summer colds. Their addition to custards, kheer or payasam lowers bad cholesterol levels in our body and helps us keep healthy.

Soups- Watery broth- based soups act as internal body coolers. Addition of cool herbs like mint or coriander to soups further helps ensure that our piping hot soup efficiently cools down us from within.

Curd- A great and cheap alternative to cold drinks and ice- creams. The vitamin B that it offers to our body helps soothe ulcers, allergies and heat boils. Hence it must be included in the list of our daily diets.

Kiwi- The fruit is a rich source of omega 3 and is found with great ease with meagre cost. Also, there is hardly any need to dress up this delightful fruit.

Juices- Any juice in whatever form, maybe, coconut juice, green tea or even plain butter milk help replenish the lost fluid quickly and effectively. One must avail of their benefits of various nutrients and vitamins provided by them.

Things to avoid-

1. Stay away from cold drinks and ice creams as far as possible. They seem to be cold but they actually interfere with our body's self cooling mechanism and may prove hazardous.

2. Drinking of coffee and alcohol in excess should also be avoide at best. They do little good but increase urination which later results in huge loss of water from the body.

3. Fried foods should also be avoided like samosa, pav, burger and pizza. They unnecessarily increase the metabolic rate which has a thermal effect increasing the temperature of body.
