Agneepath - Movie Review

Agneepath(2012) is a remake of old movie Agneepath produced by Yash Johar and Directed by Mukul Anand in the 1990. This film although a remake, but there is some changes in plot and some charter's.The latest Agneepath is made of huge star cast like Hrithik Roshan, Sanjuy Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor but the film didn't able to create the same old magic of Agneepath.

Story

The movie starts with a idealistic father who is a school teacher in a village in Mandwa. He has a wife, son and a daughter aka happy go lucky family. The father tries to eradicate all the evil perish in the village and help people follow the path of righteous but the village head and his son(Kancha chena) has different ideas.The Village head and his son trap the school teacher in a foul plot and let him killed by the villagers and thrown out his family from the village. The family comes to Mumbai where the school master's son aka vijay our hero has plans to take the revenge from the village head's son. In that journey, he joins Rauf Lala aka Rishi Kapoor a big time don in Mumbai. Soon he become the right hand of Rauf Lala and quite popular among local masses. There is some rivalry in the gang too from Rauf Lala's son but his focus is just to get the revenge from Kancha Chena and get his village back. Vijay, kills rauf lala's son and later on Rauf Lala himself to become the Don of Mumbai. His rivals also kill his wife in this fight.He deals with Kancha Chena and take his revenge from him but in the end he got killed too but let his mother and sister accepted by people of village.

Direction and Acting

Debutant director Karan Malhotra some how manages to have the grip on the story and keep its pace. The changes in plot and some characters is also managed very well and should be given credit for revising the movie in a proper manner. The direction in some places is not that powerful compare to the old version, specially the mother-son relationship was not generate that much of drama and emotion which old Agneepath generates. Direction is poor in some places, but still by pace and action he manages the grip on audience. Being his first movie and that too is a remake from old Amitabh classic is bound to draw a heavy competition but still Karan Malhotra looks a promising director. Hrithik Roshan again delivers a powerful performance and showed his class. People will bound to draw a comparison to Amitabh Bachchan which was taken at ease by the actor. He didn't try to imitate anybody and just be the character. Sanjuy Dutt will take a while to out do this performance as a villain. The whole movie looks like on his shoulders, and he really showed and generated the much required hatred to do full justice to his role. His looks really done half of the job for a negative role of this caliber. Except this two roles, there was not much left, but still in a small appearance Om Puri, Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra delivers a good job. Zarina Wahab didn't do any justice to his role as a mother of Hrithik roshan. The other charachter's has not much to do but it was good from them as required. Katrina Kaif, in an item number really done the trick and already a hype among the crowd.

Music

The music of Agneepath is given by the music duo Ajay-Atul. There are six songs in the movie and the music is average, except the chickni Chameli one which is really a chart buster and already on top in many countdowns. Gun-Gun-Guna is also becoming a little bit popular. The rest are normal and can be listen but not popular.This movie can be watched one time for Hrithik Roshan, Sanjuy Dutt and Katrina Kaif's role. Action movie lovers can see the movie too.
