Shimla: The Election Commission on Monday issued notification for the Hamirpur Pparliamentary by-poll scheduled for May 22 with an independent candidate filing his nomination on the opening day. With the notification, the process of filing nominations has started, Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda said in a statement. The last date for filing nominations is May 5. Scrutiny will be done on May 6 and the last date for withdrawal will be May 8. Counting will take place on May 25.

Independent Amin Chand filed his nominations in Hamirpur.

While ruling BJP has decided to field Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s son Anurag Thakur, opposition Congress has given ticket to former Una MLA O P Rattan. PTI
