Academic and Examination schedule for B.Tech / B Pharmacy I & II semesters :- The approved academic calendars for B.Tech and B.Pharmacy II, III & IV years – I & II semesters (Regular) for the academic year 2012-13 is given below. This academic schedule will applicable for all the B.Tech & B.Pharmacy branches of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad affiliated colleges in Andrapradesh.
What is academic calendar and its use :- B.Tech / B.Pharmacy courses will have semester system, one semester will have 6 months duration. The semester academic calendar will gives the predefined schedule of entire semester, i.e., the commencement of class work, commencement of mid term, external practical, external theory examinations etc.,
Staff can plan their teaching schedules according to the class work and complete their syllabus within the time period of the university as per the norms before each midterm examinations and they can prepare the students for external examinations. Students can plan their study hours, preparation schedule for Mid Term examinations and as well as external examinations.

Detailed enlightenment for the above side headings:-
I Spell of Instructions:- After commencement of class work, first spell instructions for class work will be held in an 8 weeks of duration. In this instruction period first unit to fourth unit syllabus will be covered in each theory subject.
I mid examinations:- I mid examination will be evaluated for 25 marks, out of 25 marks, subjective examination for 10 marks, objective examination for 10 marks and assignment for 5 marks will be conducted up to four units of syllabus. Subjective examination will be conducted in descriptive manner in 60 minutes of duration and 2 questions to be answered out of given 4 questions, each question carry 5 marks. Object examination will be conducted in a duration of 20 minutes and it will have 20 objective questions (multiple choice questions, one word question, fill-in the blanks etc.,) each question carry one marks.
II Spell of Instructions:- After completion of I unit instructions and examinations, second unit syllabus 5th unit to 8th unit will be thought in this instruction period. Apart from completion of syllabus up to eight units of theory subjects, laboratory syllabus for 2 subjects will be covered and conducted internal evaluation for lab examinations for 25 marks. Out of 25 marks 10 marks for internal test, 15 marks for day to day evaluation.
II mid examinations:- In the similar pattern of I mid examinations, second mid examinations will be conducted for 25 marks. The total marks secured by the student in each mid term examination for 25 marks is considered and the better of the two mid term examinations shall be taken as the final marks secured by each candidate
Preparations & Practical examinations:- In this duration, External Lab examinations preparations and Time Tables will be issued for conducting 2 laboratory subject exams. Lab examinations will be evaluated for 50 marks by one external examiner (appointed by university) and one internal examiner (concerned lab faculty). The reports of evaluation will be sent directly to the university.
End semester examinations:- II, III & IV year B.Tech I Semester regular end (external) examinations for 6 theory subjects will be conducted for 75 marks in the duration of 3 hours. University conducts these examinations directly in the colleges under supervision of Chief Superintendent of exams every alternate day for particular semester.
Supplementary Examinations:- II, III & IV year B.Tech II semester end examinations for students having backlogs will be conducted supplementary exams in similar format as regular examinations.
Summer vacation:- In this period there will be no class work and observed holidays i.e., break before next semester commencement
