Chandigarh (PTI): The Haryana government has set a record in procurement of wheat at 42.66 lakh million tonnes so far in this season, while during the entire season last year it had purchased 33.50 lakh million tonnes of wheat.
This was about 21 per cent more more than what the six government procuring agencies had bought last season.
The total 37.37 lakh MT wheat arrived during last season, of which 33.50 lakh MT was purchased by the agencies, an official spokesman said here today.
Enumerating the details of arrival of the wheat in the mandis, he said the HAFED had procured 16.11 lakh MT, Food and Supplies Department had purchased 8.68 lakh MT of wheat and Food Corporation of India bought 6.58 lakh MT.
While Haryana Warehousing Corporation purchased 3.90 lakh MT, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation bought 3.68 lakh MT and Confed procured 3.69 lakh MT.
