Places to roam in Lonavala Khandala.
One of the very known of hill station is Lonavala. It is very near to Pune, nearly about 70-80 km.. As the place is popularly known, it will be wise to list the points or places that are worth visiting here. Lonavala is very famous for Chikki. INS Shivaji - A Navy training center also makes Lonavala a vital place. Many well known Boarding schools are located nearby Lonavala. There are lots of Dams, caves and forts in and around Lonavala and Khandala.
Bhushi Dam - Rainy season gives a golden opportunity to the lovers of Bhushi Dam. With the arrival ofthe season lots of groups of fun lovers can be seen at the Bhushi Dam. When the dam is full with the rain water, it starts overflowing obviously. The place where this extra water is collected is made beautiful by building staircase like structure. Unfortunately even this place is not left aside by the tourist having a wrong impressions and definitions of fun. So another place called Sakhar Pathar is worth suggesting for real lovers of nature, which lies above the dam.
Nagphani - For those who love adventure tourism Nagphani or Dukes Nose is the right choice. The place lies in Khandala. To reach here, it is suitable to catch the morning Sinhagadh Express and reach Khandala. After walking certain distance towards khopoli water electricity centre, one can see a rock oddly penetrated into the hill , that is Duke's Nose. If one come here at the end of the rainy season, Maharashtra's Everest "Kalsubai" is easily visible. A Mahadeva temple is newly built on Duke's Nose. But what is special about it are the pot holes. Vaghdari - Duke's Nose and Vaghdari or Tiger's Leap are the two places that need to visited in a single trip. The place is known as Tiger's Leap. But many call it Tiger's Leap. The echo point here is the most famous.
Khandala Dari - Khandala Dari is the most useful place for the trackers to visit in any season, except the rainy season. The place is popularly known amongst the trackers in Pune and Mumbai, as Canian Track. If gone towards Pune -Mumbai highway, leaving Lonavala Khandala , comes Rajmachi point between this Rajmachi Point and the fort of Rajmachi lies, the Khandala Dari (Valley) . River Ulhas flows through this valley. To reach the bottom of the valley, the best way is to reach Kune Point first, then and then safely walk to the bottom.
Gambhirnath Caves - If one is ready to go through certain inconveniences, Gambhirnath Caves must be visited. While going towards Mumbai, between Monkey Hill and Thakarwadi, lies the place. To reach Gambhirnath, one has to leave the train here, climb the narrow path on the hill and reach Gambhirnath. At the very entrance of the cave one an feel the underlying suspense and darkness. It is advisable to leave the place, after having visited thoroughly and after having some food if any.
