Army Public Schools
APS(s) are the chain of schools run by Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) under the Indian Army generally in all cantonments accross the country tp provides quality education to the wards of the personals of Armed forces. They are from class 1 to 12 and are on the CBSE pattern and AWES guidelines. They have very large lush green campuses with parks, and big grounds and have lots of space. Teachers are appointed here, after proper selection process, in which in addition to the head of the institution, sometimes Chairman of the school is present. The criteria for selection are also strict. What the schools, other then academic excellence, is known for is the discipline. The schools have "Fauji Discipline" ie. military discipline, schools follow strict rules discipline is very good and on military basis. Chairman of the school is generally an Army officer of the rank of Brigadier and Sub-Area commander of the cantonment and an officer of rank of Major-General is the patron of the school.
Army Public School, Meerut Cantt. was established on 7 Aug. 1987, in Military barracks of Army Stationary Depot as a primary school with just handful of teachers and around 200 students. The aim of the school is to provide quality education to the wards of Indian Armed Forces' personals. School was established as a primary school as "Regimental School" and just had one military barrack. And what started as a "primary paathshala" is now a mighty stream of over 3500 students. Army Public School is an english medium and is like all other APS(s) being run by AWES under CBSE's and AWES's guidelines. Sub-Area commander is the chairman of school and GOC-SubArea is the patron of the school. APS Meerut has a very big campus, filled with greenery and students feel very close to nature. Playgrounds are big and all major facilities are available. A new school building, very high-tech and equipped with all latest things is under construction and is most likely to be functionabely by the next academic session. School has a School Management Committee, and a student council. There are regular school inspections and technical inspections by Military technical officers and CBSE officials. The school has a history of academic excellence. The school gained the status of APS after some years of establishment and as the students and staff grew, the are aunder the school also grew. It acquired more barracks and eventually the whole of western part of the Stationary Depot. Current patron of school is GOC-SubArea Major General BK Yadav and chairman is Brigadier Neeresh Rathore. APS Meerut has all the 3 streams in the senior secondary stage with all the three streams viz. science, commerce and humanities. School is the only APS among more than 130 institutions to have a gymnasium, well equipped with all machines and also has Table Tennis facilities and a Golf-course. All kinds of laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Home-science are also here. School also has a well-maintained library with all latest books, best-selling novels and internationally acclaimed books. Latest editions of leading reputed magazines and newspapers are also there. Besides it, every junior class has a class library. Besides providing quality education to Defense wards, aim is to provide students with all-round education, making them a perfect "human being" and provide excellence in students in every field. Co-curricular activities and additional sports are the main features of the school. Football team of the school is well-known around for grabbing trophies where they play. In order to encourage healthy competitions among students and develop interest in co-curricular activities, "House system" is there. School has 4 houses, each named after great Indian Army's commanders. The houses are Maneckshaw, Cariappa, SunderJi and Vaidya. Here are some basic details about the school -
@Madhur Sharma nice to read this type of article. I have a doubt in this Army Public School(APS) for only army peoples childrens or its for public childrens too. This Army Public School leads the students to join in the army after there education or they can do as there wish.
First priority is given to children of Armed Forces personnel. There is no rule that civilians will not be given admission. Also, there is no condition laid down that a student will have to join the Forces after education.
