Everyone needs the best among colleges and best among courses so the competition is very fierce. Most of the admission seekers are just came out from a school and they don't have a much idea about outside world. Its very necessary that they should follow some guidelines to overcome this problem and in a win-win situation.
The first thing that a student do to have a little clear picture is that he should check the last year cut off list and have a good idea that most probable colleges to be choose from and the courses they offer in them. Students further need to fill up the application form which is now nearly same for whole Delhi University. This centralized application can help you to fill up the form for the most colleges in Delhi. Students can also take the particular college application form, from where he wants to be admitted and he can get admitted to that according to last years cut-off list, to be on safer side. Students need to have the particular prospectus and form which will cost for each college around Rs100 to Rs200. The receipt of the received application form should be kept carefully as it is required during admission, after publication of cut-off list for the successful candidates. Students must have a good percentage of marks in Class XII to seek the admission in most choosy and selective colleges. The general category students after the result need to see in which college their name appeared and apply with receipt of their application. If their name still not appear on their selected college, they can wait for a second cut off list.
The sport quota eligible candidates needed to fill up the forms individually for the particular college as this facility of centralized forms is not available for sports quota candidates. The procedure is little difficult as its follows the same rigid officials and their unhelpful behavior. Candidates must submit the copies of sports certificate, awards, representation of level or whatever document supporting their claim for sports person or the extra curricular activity.
After the announcement of dates, the students has to appear in the sports test in that particular college where he wish to seek admission on the basis of sports or some extra curricular activity. Reduction of five to ten percent of qualifying percentage is given in the cut off list for these candidates. Lets say if normal candidates has to secure 75 percent marks according to cut off list then a sports quota student has to secure 65 percent or 70 percent in the same list to be appear. These students will later represent the college in various sports or drama or dance or music competition.
The sports quota or extra curricular activity quota needs extra classes and training attendance after joining the college so it will be a little extra labor for them. If you are sportsman then you have to have good attendance in training and activity of the sport. Similarly if you are a musician or dramatic or choreographer, then you have to join the relevant sections and attend regularly as the attendance really matters there. The problem faced by these category students when some competition closes they have to sidelines their regular study classes and it's have an effect on their academics results. Delhi University just in an attempt to balance that provide an option to apply in both categories according to your result.
