The merit list is prepared consisting of the science students scoring highest marks in this exam amongst whom are chosen some for Junior Research Fellowship(JRM) sholarships while the rest are selected for the NET-National Eligibility Test. The students passing out this exam are eligible for the lecturer or the post of reader.

Eligibility for CSIR Exam-2012

For the students in the general category, a post graduation in science subjects is essential from any recognised university/institution with at least 55 % marks. For the physically challenged persons of society and for the candidates from SC and ST category, being PG with 50 % marks is a must. For the applicants desirous to gain the eligibility for the post of lectureship, there is no age limit, whereas for JRF candidates, the age limit isminimum19 years and maximum28 years and for the SC/ST and physically challenged candidates, the age limit is relaxed up to 5 years.

CSIR exam- held in 3 phases

The question Papers of the CSIR exam would be in 3 parts:
  1. Part ‘A’ will consist general science, quantitative reasoning, and analysis and research aptitude.
  2. Part ‘B’ would consist of subject related objective type of test
  3. Part ’C’ would consist questions of scientific and concept nature.

Practicing on previous year's questions helps

You can succeed in this examination only if you practice on speed with accuracy. This bears great importance in the objective types of questions. It’d be better for you to practice solving questions within the given timeframe and with greater degree of accuracy. If you do this practice while there is still time left to exam date, you shall come to know of your weaknesses to remove it on time. You can obtain better marks in this examination only if you have strong grips over the science subjects. Solve and practice over the science related subjects as much as is possible. There are several books related to the subjects available in the market. Pay deep attention on science related current affairs and research works.

Clear concept of Syllabus- necessary

The standard of questions is of graduation standard. For this reason, a better understanding of its syllabus and subject is vitally important. Better strategy for you it would be study standard books. Then prepare related notes and read them repeatedly. By following this stratagem, the benefit it would be that you shall be able to prepare well in advance in a short time and shoe a better performance in the examination.
