The UGC University Grants Commission has come up with a unique scholarship scheme for the benefits of families having a single and only girl child. UGC has issued a notification to avail benefits under the scheme of Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single girl child to encourage the girls students to pursue Post Graduation courses. All Indian national girls are eligible for this scheme. Here below you can get the all necessary details of the scholarship scheme.

Eligibility


For applying to the Indira Gandhi Scholarship for single girl child scheme the candidates have to pursue PG Post Graduation in non-professional courses. The student have to be the single cum only daughter of her parents. Students pursing the first year of Post Graduation courses (non-professional) on a regular mode are only eligible for applying. Students who are studying their PG courses in a distance mode aren't eligible for applying for the scholarship. The girl students age should not be exceed more than 30 years for applying the scholarship. Girl Students exceeding the age of 30 aren't eligible for apply. Studying in non-professional PG courses is mandatory for applying.

Facilities covered under Scholarship


University Grants Commission (UGC) has been offering 1000 scholarships under this scheme. Along with tuition fee, the selected girl students will be paid an amount of 2000 rupees as scholarship for the period of two years. The scholarship will be paid for 10 months in a year. For the continuation of the scholarship the girl students have to compulsorily score 60 percent of marks in the first year of the PG course. In case of the PHC Physically Handicapped Candidates they have to score 55 percent marks in first year to be eligible for claiming the Scholarship in next year otherwise the scholarship will be stopped. And in case of drop-out students the scholarship amount that has been paid till the date will be refunded from either college or University Secretary. Hence the girls students should score the minimum percentage of marks in their first years to claim the same in their second year.
