Prime Minister merit scholarship scheme

In this article I explained how to apply for the Prime Minister scholarship, who are all eligible for the scholarship, what is the eligibility to get the scholarship and the amount given in this scholarship. I also explained how and where to get the application. I uploaded an application here with this article.



 

Introduction:


The Prime Minister merit scholarship scheme is the scholarship given to the children who made their service in the country's defence. Lot of people died and disabled in the defence fields and lost the ability to earn and educate their children. For that Indian defence ministry decided to give the scholarship for the education of their children who pass in the merit. The scholarship scheme started from the year 2006- 2007.

Maximum number of persons can be given scholarship:


The scholarship will be given for the maximum of 4000 persons. The four thousand persons in particularly the military forces. There are 1000 more number of additional scholarships for the para military forces which are in the control of Ministry of Home Affairs and Railways. The scholarships for the para- military forces is divided into 910 for Ministry of Home Affairs and 90 for the Railways. If the scholarship persons less than thousand, the remaining number of scholarship will be given to the military persons.

Eligibility and order of preferences:


  • The children of exservice men and their widows,

  • The children of the defence personals died of the cause in the defence actions,

  • The children of the ex-servicemen died in the defence fields,


  • Note: The scholarships are not for the widows or the children of ex-servicemen who got married.

    Order of preference:
    The scholarships will be given on the following basis, if more number of applications received for the scholarship.
  • The children of the person who died in the field,

  • The children of ex-servicemen physically challenged and come out of duty,

  • The children of the persons died of the problems during the service,

  • The children of the persons who become physically challened because of the problem during the service,

  • The children of persons who received the awards, the children of ex-servicemen.


  • Scholarship available courses: :


    Engineering, medicine, dental, veterinary, MBA, MCA. The colleges that are given scholarship should be approved by All India Council of Technical Education, Medical Council of India, University Grants Commission.
    Note: For B.Ed courses the scholarships given only for two years. The scholarship will be given for any recognized colleges in any part of the country.

    Eligibility: :


    Minimum of 60 percent marks in the tenth or twelfth board exams or any other minimum entry qualification level for the initiation of scholarship.
    The student should score minimum fifty percent in the exams for the renewal of scholarship. The duration of scholarship is from two years to five years depending on the degree of study.

    Amount of Scholarship: :


    For boys Rs.1250/- per month and for girls Rs.1500 per month. The scholarship amounts are paid annually. The payment will be given after the merit approval for the Ministry of Defence.

    Renewal of Scholarship: :


    Once the scholarship name is choosen and received, you should apply for the renewal in the subsequent years. There is separate form with the main form itself. Fill the details in the form. Attach the bonafide certificate from the college. The application should have the parent signature. Add the attested xerox copy of the original mark sheet and the bank details. You should score minimum of fifty percent in the subsequent exams to receive the scholarship.

    Conclusion: :


    Completed applications should be send to the address, Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, Wing-5, R.K puram, New Delhi-110066. The application form can be downloaded from the website of DGR, www.dgrindia.com. All should send a demand draft of rupees 30/- in favour of Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, New Delhi. You can get the application directly from the above address with the payable demand draft. All should give the bank details correctly with the electronic clearance system. Those accounts having the electronic clearance system will be given priority for the scholarship. The decision of KSB secretary is the final in choosing the scholarship.
