I have prepared a list of some of the best Engineering colleges taking into consideration the things like infrastructural facilities, Placement facilities, and Pass percentage and staff facilities. This was the list issued by the Anna University in the year 2012 and hope this article would be helpful for the readers especially the students.
1. Velammal Engineering College
This is one of the most important colleges in Chennai that is situated covering a large area. It has almost all the courses including the unique courses like Marine Engineering, Production Engineering etc., It is the college that is also known for the strictness that is maintained over there. The college has got all the infrastructural facilities in them and the college is also having sports and Other extra curricular activities like NCC. It is noteworthy that the college is having a NCC navy wing inside the campus. It is the college that attracts of the students at this locality. This is the college that belongs to the RMK family and this college ranked first according to the passe percentage in the year 2012. This college went par the parent college RMK in the year 2012 and preceded the RMK technology that got the second rank among the college in chennai according to the Anna University reports 2012. The college is also known for the canteen facilities that is one among the best in Chennai. It is located in same campus where the RMK college is situated. It is located very near to the Gummidipoondi at a place called Kavaraipettai.

3. RMK College of Engineering and Technology
RMK college of technology is one of the youngest colleges in Chennai that started its functioning in the year 2008 and within some four years the college gained good name and reputation. The college also ranked second in the Anna University rank list 2012 based on the top 10 colleges based on the pass percentage. This college is improving at a drastic level and hope this college achieves greater heights in the future period of time.

4. Sai Ram Engineering College
This college ranked third among the engineering colleges in Chennai affiliated to Anna University. This college is doing a nice job recently. Though the name seems to be not well known it is one of the colleges that are opted by the students mostly. This got a high pass percentage that made the college come under the top 10 colleges in and aroung Tamil Nadu. The college offers BE, B tech courses and also MBA, MCA and M tech courses. The college was established in the year 1995. It is situated near the famous theme park Kishkintha located at Chennai Tambaram.

5. RMK Engineering College
RMK Engineering college the most famous and oldest of the RMK group of institution is situated at Kavarapettai. It is one of the brother colleges of RMD and RMK technology which is situated very near the college. The college had an impressive records in terms of pass percentage right from the 2000.
