Bring back autorickhshaw meters.
Now days the autodrivers are charging the fares of the autos at their interest and this leads to hassle traveeling for the commuters in their daily life.If Meters are fixed in the autos,then its easy to pay off only which is shown in the meters rather paying random amounts.

The autos are the comfortable zone and mode of transport which helps in coomuters in getting into their destined placs at right time,but now not at right cost.As their fares are unpredictable at evry second,the fares of each auto varies from person to person and also depends on the looks of the particular person.If he/she is dressed up very well ,then the driver thinks that he must be very rich enough and can grab much bigger fare from them.
Its not shocking at the pace of todays life,if an autodriver asks Rs 50 for 3km distance and also if another auto driver for same distance and same route can ask for Rs 70 or 80.The college students had a greater impact of these high fares,as these exobirant fares not enough sometimes afforable.As the pocket money gets over by a week after paying the auto fares.We understand that,these auto drivers are not wantedly incresing the fares,as it is their daily wages from which they have fill the stomach of their family.Even its the government fault,as their not taking this issue in any serious way.
After coming back from native,I always board an auto from avadi to my campus where I stay.They used to charge some Rs 70,after few months it turned to 80,then 100 and above.The worst condition is that we have to bargain with these auto drivers to reach our destined places.Need is ours as we may carry many luggages or must be in hurry to reach out places,at those situatipons we wont be able to bargain and ahve to pay out the fare asked by them.
In some places I have seen that,at the auto stand,these drivers demand triple charges for the trip if they see the commuter in a professional look.And they rush towards the commuter to catch out a trip and wont allow other autos to drive in towards them.sometimes the drivers in the local autostand have the habbit of chit chatting with themselves,so when the passenger asks the other drivers in the stand that whether they are intrested in taking the trip instead.And they dont even care if the commuters walks away.
I have read in the newspapers,that there are 200 stands in the city and nearly 70,000 autorickshaws.An auto stand acn be set up only if if they have permission from the transport department and an approval from the traffic police.If we introduce the Meters in the autos then the commuters can pay off reasonable fare for their trip.We can pay the fare which is being dispalyed in the meter,then there will be no issue of bargaining or any other difficulties.Even the auto drivers can get a profit out of it,as they will get multiple trips and amny commuters to travel in if the fares are reduced.
I came to know that many collelge students are organizing the campaign for bring back meters in the autos.I feel proud of those students who had alteast thought of intiating,which should be first intiated by the government.I heard that many debates,links,bloggs,drives are started against the high fares of the autos.We hope that alteast from these few campaigns ,our words would reach the government and they take relevant steps to regulate this issues.
If the fares are get reasonable,it will reduce the hassle for the passengers travelling in Chennai.

Authorities in Chennai must wake up to reality and fix auto fares at periodical intervels so that the public do not suffer at the hands of unruly auto drivers and moreover strict enforcement for use of meter should be made.
