For a better understanding of Heart Disease in Women

It is a very common concept that mostly men are involved with Heart disease. But the concept is not at all true in terms of the report of medical science. Women also may get equally affected by Heart disease. In this article, I will explain the function of the Heart, reasons of Heart disease, symptoms as well as signs of heart-failure and how it can be controlled by adopting some simple ways what women can do easily.

The heart is nothing but a pumping machine which pumps blood throughout the body. So, the heart is fully responsible to continue blood circulation in the body well. Heart is divided by four chambers, two upper chambers and two lower chambers. The pumping process is generated by opening and closing these chambers. From our body-cells impure blood i.e, blood carrying carbon dioxide go to right-side chambers of the heart and from these chambers blood is sent to lungs to get filled with oxygen and at the same time the blood leaves carbon dioxide. From lungs the oxygenated blood again enters into the left chambers of the heart and the heart then pumps it for circulation for entire body. This process is repeated in the same way. So, blood circulation helps our body-cells and organs perform well as needed by supplying oxygen and nutrients.

In order to supply more oxygen to our lung we may take deep breaths, engage ourselves in physical exercise viz, jogging, outdoors walking to get fresh air, swimming to increase heart-beat rate, decrease our body weight, take fresh vegetables and fruits for healthy nutrition and take vitamin supplements having iron and folic acid to enhance generating red blood cells which are responsible for exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide in the entire system of blood circulation.

It is to be carefully kept in mind that our heart can perform its work properly if the flow of the blood inside the heart becomes sufficient. Insufficient blood-flow inside heart may cause damage and it may stop its functioning and when such situation takes place it causes heart failure. In common words we call it Heart disease or Heart disorder. Such disorder may be chronic also which is very dangerous.

Sometimes on the inner walls of the blood vessels which are closely connected with the heart are found to get thickened with fatty materials called cholesterol and due to this, continuity of flow of blood happens to get restricted and the heart cannot receive the required quantity of blood it needs. This type of situation causes the stroke or heart attack and this kind of disease is called coronary artery disease or cardiovascular disease.

Heart problems are also found due to high blood pressure for long period of time for which the heart loses the spontaneity of its function and cannot pump the blood properly causing unnatural accumulation of blood in lung which also makes breath short. High blood pressure also enhances the rate of generating cholesterol by which the arteries are often found to get damaged.

Factors responsible for the causes of heart disease are – Hereditary factor, accumulation of excess fat in the area of abdomen, older age, high blood pressure, smoking habit, diabetes, lack of physical exercise etc.

The most common signs and symptoms of heart disease are – Chest pain, irregular heartbeats, shortness of breath, unnatural perspiration, vomiting, swelling in lower limbs, weakness and weariness, stomach pain, coughing etc.

Women may control themselves by changing some habits and lifestyle to prevent from being a victim of such a deadly disease as far as they can by reducing cholesterol, taking proper diet such as fresh fruits and vegetables, reducing common salt (NaCl) and fat intake, quitting the smoking habit, taking physical exercise, reducing stress and keeping away from consuming alcohol.
