The corporate sector has been in pickup both in private and public organizations after trade policies were liberalized in and abroad. The managers were largely required to organize business units. Business schools were being opened to train up the managers under private and Govt. administration. They set up an entrance module for admission in to managerial courses due to heavy demand. C-MAT (Common- Managerial Admission Test) is one of the Management Admission Tests. The students had to write 50 entrance tests to get admission into management courses in the country- wide in the previous days. The students felt a great worry and physical strain to attend the country wide entrance tests along with lot of money spent for application for every entrance test. Apart from there is a great variation from test to test with the prescribed syllabus difference. So parents were taking much strain and pain to make their children get management seats. At last the AICTE (All India Council Technical Education) decided to conduct a single entrance examination for admission in to management courses to the aspirants in the country after considering the requests with the consultations of parent's and student's community. The first C-MAT was introduced in the last year. The C-MAT for 2013 notification has been issued for new admissions into 3500 business management schools (B-Schools) for four lakh management seats approved by AICTE.
Scope in all B-Schools
This is not only an option but the students have been given another choice that the student If qualified any other test conducted by the B-Schools individually eligible for admission in any B-School. Some B-Schools will have given a chance to those who get good score from MAT (Management Aptitude Test), Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), Aims Test for Management Admissions (ATMA). According to the score the admissions would take place. Merit students could avail the scholarships a 'surety of higher education'
C-MAT is a common entrance test for management courses in the national level for admission into 3500 B-Schools conduct twice in a year by AICTE. It is common test to all the aspirants for management degree like NEET for medicine and ICET for engineering in the nationwide. This exam was conducted in the last year 2012 countrywide on from September 27th to October 1st. The notification has been released for second time entrance test which will be held on from February 21st. to25th. of the year 2013 as per the scheduled. The entrance exam was completely computer based objective type. Degree final year students are also eligible to apply and the students who qualify fromCentral university of Hyderabad-Distance education are also eligible based on the score gained in C-MAT. The seats will be allotted as their ranks in the entrance test and reservations provided by the Govt. 50% for general category, SC/ST for 45% and remaining for disabled persons. The minimum qualification is degree in any stream for every category.
Procedure of examination
C-MAT entrance question paper consists four parts. The first part is quantitative technics and data interpretation has 25 questions for 100 marks, the second one is Logical reasoning 25 questions for 100 marks, third part is (English) Language comprehension 25 questions for 100 marks and the last part is General awareness 25 questions for 100 marks. The total numbers of questions are 100 for 400 marks. The 100 questions will have to answer in the duration of three hours. Each question has been given four marks. Negative marks will be given for wrong answers. Each wrong answer is charged one mark, that mark will be deducted from right answer marks (4-1).
Ranks will be allotted to the candidates according to the marks gained out of four hundred marks in the entrance test. If the candidates get equal marks, the ranks will be decided as the marks get in a priority base of the parts in the question paper. The importance of four parts are descending as Logical reasoning > Language comprehension > General awareness > Quantitative technics. For example a candidate get more marks in logical reasoning part get the best first among the candidates get equal marks. Even though they stood on same, the second part language comprehension will be considered. In the same manner the remaining options will consider to decide ranks.
Group discussion / Personal interview>
The institutes do not allot seats only through the marks gained in the C-MAT. According to these marks they sort out a list. After that candidates will be called to participate in group discussion and to face personal interview. The academic record of the candidate and work experience if they did anywhere will be considered before giving admission card.
Quantitative technics and data interpretation: This part consists mainly arithmetic concepts and number theory, percentages, profit and losses, simple interest, compound interest are the important chapters in this section. So the questions will be easy to get good marks in the way of correct calculations. Candidates pay much time in practice at home to easy go out at exam. Mainly it is time consuming section so as to overtake this obstacle practice helps him a lot.
There is a need to practice in Coordinate geometry, Trigonometry (heights and distances), statistics quadratic equations, progressions, permutations and combinations, probability and number system etc., are to help the candidates to get more marks in their entrance test.
Language comprehension: In English language there is an important item is critical reasoning. Argument structure, argument elements questions on these items are based on the inference based questions. In the first C-MAT exam the more questions are given in this item and also they are so critical. It needs a grip in English and reading and writing practice in an observation. The questions in this section are at level of CAT. So the students have to choose the chapters from related books that equilent to CAT. In the same manner the student will go through in English reading comprehension, sentence correction and also concentrate on questions on vocabulary. In this English language the student should have to read English magazines in observation and in analytically so as to answer well.
Logical reasoning: In this section all the items that are related to reasoning will come as questions in this part. Linear arrangement, circular arrangement, selections, distribution puzzles, comparisons, binary logic, cubes, ven-diagrams, additions-subtractions is the syllabus for questions more expected in C-MAT exam. The style of asking questions are different while compare with other management entrance tests. In some occasions the given data is not sufficient to draw out the answer, though the student is able to answer such questions. Besides they should concentrate on number series, coding –decoding, symbols-equations, blood relations, direction signs, input-output, calendars and clocks to get merit score in this test.
General awareness: In this part, the student should have concentrate more on History, Geography, Sports, Awards and important seminars for general knowledge along with Greenhouse effect, Global warming and contemporary issues that took place in current affairs. The candidates should have known the seminars, meetings, agreements, Individual and team victories and awards of the previous year of the exam year. The candidate should cultivate habit of reading dailies, financial newspapers, Manorama ear book, CSR year book to know current events. Nationalized banks and other commercial banks and the years of established. Financial meetings in high level, IMF and World Bank programs are use full for this entrance test.

C-MAT is a computer based exam. So every applicant should make practice daily to improve speed and understanding.
