B.S. Marine Engineering
B.S. Nautical Technology
B.S. Marine Engineering course is 4-year degree programme (residential) . This course ultimately leads one to become chief engineer of a ship , after further sea service and examinations.
B.S. Nautical Technology course is 4- year degree programme (3 year Residential + 1 year at sea)this course ultimately leads one to become master (Captain) of a ship. After further sea service and examinations.

This is an Off-Campus centre of Birla Institute of Technology and Science , Pilani, Rajasthan.
Educational Criteria:
Senior secondary Examinations (10+2) or its equivalent from any Govt. Recognized University/Board with atleast 60 % aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and atleast 50% marks in English either in class x or class xii have passed these examinations in first attempt.
Age: 17 to 20 years ( born between 16.08.1988 and 15.08.1991)
Eye sight: Should not have either colour blindness or night blindness.
BS(ME) :Correction for each eye is permitted to + or – 2.5
BS(NT): 6/6 vision for each eye is essential.
Selection Procedure: The candidate will be shortlisted based on their academic performance, in on line test and fitness in the medical examination. The decision of the institute will be final and binding on the candidates.

The candidates can get the application from the Institute
Initial Processing Fee : Rs.100/- to be paid by the candidate at the time of getting the application form.
Final Processing Fee : Rs.700/- to be paid by the candidate at the time of submitting filled in application, by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of R.L. INSTITUTE OF NAUTICAL SCIENCES, payable at Madurai. (Filled in application without processing fee will not be processed)
The candidates who download the application form from the website shall send the filled in application directly to the institute alongwith a demand draft of Rs.800/- drawn in favour of R.L. INSTITUTE OF NAUTICAL SCIENCES, payable at Madurai towards one time processing fee.
Procedure for submitting Application
First Stage
Initially Candidate is required to submit the filled in application (First Part) alongwith Registration form for on-line test enclosing Secondary / X Std Mark List.
The filled in application is to be submitted by the candidate to the institute alongwith a demand draft for Rs.700/- (in case of downloaded application Rs.800/-) drawn in favour of R.L. INSTITUTE OF NAUTICAL SCIENCES, payable at Madurai towards processing fee.
This can be done even before the release of Senior Secondary / +2 results.
Second Stage
After the publication of Senior Secondary / +2 results Candidate is required to submit Annexure-1 (second part) of the application form duly incorporating the marks obtained in Senior Secondary / +2 examinations enclosing the attested copies of the mark list.
A. Last date for submission of filled in application form alongwith
Secondary / X Std mark sheet and for On-line Test Registration.
i. At National Centres including Institute Centre 25.05.2008
ii. At Institute Centre only 20.06.2008
B. Last date for submission of Senior Secondary /
+2 mark sheet
