Iron Man (action)
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Terence Howard, Jeff Bridges
Direction: Jon Favreau

IRON MAN may not have been the Big Hero of Marvel Comics, but here, in his first film avtar, he stands as tall as the rest of masked crusaders. And the fact that he talks about contemporary problems -- de-militarisation, end of war -- only makes him more alluring. Iron Man's Big No to weapons of mass destruction makes all the more sense because it comes from a man who is supposed to be the largest manufacturer of WMDs that are creating havoc, the world over. Makes you hope that someday, all the Tony Starks (that's his true identity) of the world will actually sing Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind.

Topicality isn't the only highpoint of the film. Robert Downey Jr. with his self-deprecating humour and his casual swagger, lends a whole new visage to the face of the Superhero. As Tony Stark, the weapons manufacturer who doesn't care who buys his weapons, he's quite despicable. And he doesn't love himself either. Thus, when he gets a chance to redeem himself after being imprisoned by an Afghan warlord, he simply grabs the opportunity. Instead of creating the Jericho missile for the wily Afghan, he creates Iron Man, a one-man missile that can defend the world against all kinds of missiles. But when he manages to escape from the hideout, he realises the enemy lies within his Malibu mansion: his business partner (Jeff Bridges) who dreams of world domination. But take heart, there's Iron Man, with his iron maiden -- the delectable Ms Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) -- and his iron heart to teach all bad guys a lesson in peace. So what if it means more explosions, more violence.
...Great action!

The promos seem good enough. Anyone who has seen the movie, kindly put their reviews. Would like to see the movie, but do not want to waste time if it is a flop like 10000 BC.
