CHENNAI: A sum of Rs 1 crore was donated by Indian Overseas Bank towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
An official release said the donation was towards assistance and rehabilitation of the people who were affected by recent floods and un-seasonal rains in Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts in the State.
The bank recently launched a rural development project ‘IOB Sampoorna’, which is a total village development programme covering Koothambakkam and Padur in Tiruvallur district.
The bank had adopted these villages to create sustainable models for overall development and generation of new revenue streams, enhancing income and improving quality.
Creating green environment, improving water resources, training, educating farmers on latest techniques and health care were some of the other components of the programme, the release added.
