It's my hobby to search different available resources on net.
I was looking for software which can give actual dimensions of a property from satellite imagery.
While searching I came across this site zonums.com which provides a map tool in combination with Google map services. First I have to pinpoint my property on Google map.
An option has been provided to mark property by putting dotted markers. Once I plot the area with the markers, that area becomes shaded and on top you get the results.
Now it is not possible that any property will be perfectly in square or rectangle shape. For this also they have provided a solution. You need to put the first point marker at the top left. Then second marker in same line horizontally where the property ends. The third marker should be put vertically in the line of 2nd marker till the property end. Once you put the third marker, area between the three point markers becomes shaded in a triangular shape. Now you have to put the 4th marker below the 1st marker where the property ends at bottom left. Whole of the property gets shaded and we get the results.
There is an option to get results in yards, meters, feet, and hectares, square meters etc.
I tried this service many times and as I was aware of my property dimensions, the results came very close. Anyways this service is not to get data for legal battle but to provide an basic idea of the dimensions of your property or the one you are looking forward to Buy.
