Parallel Ports are for connecting Hardwares like printer to your Computer.USB is another device that is being recently used and is becoming popular.But,parallel port is still a common mans usage interface for connecting printers.Parallel ports can be used to connect a host of popular computer peripherals: such as Printers, External hard drives, CD burners, Iomega Zip removable drives,Scanners,Network adapter,Tape backup drives.
Now coming to Serial Ports,they are basic external connections to a computer.Serial Connection Ports are an integral part of most computers for many years.Although many of the newer systems have done away with the serial port completely in favor of USB connections, most modems still use the serial port, as do some printers, PDAs and digital cameras.
