It is the common title every one of us know and heard so many times. But any one of us thing about the actual importance of that sentence? In this article I write about its importance with examples from our nature and great people of this world to understand its importance.

Unity means oneness or togetherness. When there is oneness, there is likely to be more strength in opinion, more strength in action, and more strength in character. This very simple and obvious fact that, if one person tries his hand on some work, he will manage to do less than what a group will achieve. After all a rope is strong because all its threads are united.

One Short Story:

I remember a story from my childhood: A man had four sons who used to quarrel with one another. Their father is unable to resolve their disputes. So, one fine day, he called all of them to his room. He gives them one drum stick and asked them to break it. Well, that was easy and each succeeded in their job.Next, he gives a bundle of drumsticks and asked them to break it.Naturally it is very difficult to break it.

Moral from this story:

So,the moral from this story is "Unity is Strength". Each one of us has heard this story over and over again. But have thought about matter deeply? This simple story signifies the cardinal principles of nature:Unity.

What we learn from nature:

If we see the nature carefully it will justify the saying, "in union, there is strength". Look at the flowers, the river, the forest, and all the things around. A single petal is not attractive. It is a number of them that arranged beautifully that capture every heart. The Huge Ocean is nothing but the unity of tiny droplets of water. Even wind animals who did have human intelligence can roam about a group. The most intriguing site is ants moving in a queue. If you disturb them they ran to and fro a while, but organised soon. They even hunt for food together, store it has common stock, and use it as a group. Unity in itself a driving forces.

Whatever we are, who so ever we are, whatever identity we possess, our true identity is incomplete without assimilating ourselves into united groups that we consciously or unconsciously are a part of, be it our classroom, our society, our team, our nation, or the entire world. Let us peep into different spheres of our existence, and the true of this statement can be adjudged easily.

How Unity help in our society and individually

Let us first discuss about the smallest unity of our society, the family. India is perhaps the sole country in the world where the joint family system still exists. A family indication oneness, they live together, they work together, they enjoy together, they share their woes together, and this is the basic strength of a family, each member providing vigour and confidence to all other. If all members of a family go on divergent roads, they very semblance of a family disappears. When we lose this oneness, as seen in some families today, we break the very edifice of our construction.
From this smallest unit, we go to the biggest horizon of society. Since time immemorial, India has been propagating the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, i.e. we are all the members of a universal family. We have it in our blood to accept anyone who comes to us with open arms. There is unity in our country despite the barrier of caste, creed, religion and language. However, today society is broken into fragments. This led to the loosening of ties of the society which is the cause of the growth of so many social evils. Therefore, unity among fellow men is essential for the society to flourish.

Have you ever watched a game in progress? It is evident that no team has ever won a game in the absence of team spirit. The players play in a concerted manner for the them without any self motives. This sense of unity is highly essential in workplace as well, where coordinated efforts are required for the desired outcome. There has to be a scene of belongingness among the members of a team for its success.

Lives of great leaders:

There is no force strong than unity. What cannot be achieved by a single soul, can be achieved by the masses that fight for a common cause. The history of the world bears testimony to it. Abraham Lincoln is considered has one of the greatest president ever, because of his earnest effort of uniting America by abolishing slavery, thereby giving it true strength of democracy and taking it path towards of development. Nelson Mandela won the nobel prize for uniting the Blacks and the whites into a single society, among all other African nations.

Conclusion:

The beat example of unity that India has ever portrayed has been during its struggle for independence. It was under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi that the whole country stood together as one to fight for their rights and regain their lost freedom. Even though the struggle lasted for almost a century, the India clung together as one single unit unmoved, and what happen to the British Empire is for all of us to see.
In recent years, there has been civil unrest in our country because of differences between communities. This lack of unity among people has resulted in the creeping in of evils in the very fabric of system. The country is today seen crumbling under the weight of separation.
Today, the world requires a lot of unity among nations to deal with important issues like terrorism, environmental pollution, global meltdown, poverty and population explosion. In a mad race to get ahead of each other, the nations are divided among each other, and act in a manner which causes innumerable man-made disasters threatening the very existence of the mankind, be it the atomic bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl, or the world wide global warming.
Unity is therefore essential for the survival of this planet.

My appreciation to the new member of this great site for churning out a social relevance topic through this article and it was well written. Surely the moral teaches that with unity we can achieve great success in life. That is why in many organizations workers union are created to safeguard their rights. Normally in big companies and organizations where the strength is more, there are chances of mismanagement. Therefore the workers association plays important role in safeguarding the rights of the workers and employees. This is nothing but display of unity.

Thank you sir,
Unity is strength and it is the success formula for most of the companies especially IT giant Google, Microsoft, IBM, Apple like this company if we visit them I think one thing we can clear that is teamwork. If any problem came they solve in a group. They will give equal importance to the thoughts of fresher to CEO of that company. They created like that environment and encourage teamwork nothing but Unity. We can see the results of this companies every year and how they successes nothing but Unity. It is their winning strategy.

Unity is the essence of the entire mankind. This point is very well expressed by the author in a very simple and yet precise manner. India was a conglomerate of small kingdoms before the British came to our country for trade and ended up by grabbing the entire country and ruling for a long time. This all happened due to the lack of unity among the people of India. The freedom struggle is a great example of what unity among the people can achieve. A very nice article by the author on a very important aspect.

Yes it is most important topic and I think it will give solutions to all our problems in our society. We found battles between nations. Take India and Pakistan if united together then both countries will develop in no time and peace would prevail in both the nations. Global warming is one of the main problem we can get away for this if all nations unite and fought against it. Like that if entire world unite then we can face any problem.

Unity is strength and strength is power. Unity in every field plays a smart role. Let us take an example of unity in cricket. If every player plays for his own carrier not for team that result to the failure of the team but if all players play for team, it grows up. Unity is must in any team, company, class or in society. Without unity you are alone and can’t face the big challenges alone. Suppose you can face the challenges alone but if your friends united with you to face the challenges it would be easy to face the challenges more efficiently and easily.

A very good article by the Revanth bringing a good message to the society with good example. We can achieve anything if we stand united. Unity is not only strength but also generates power and enhances determination. The more we are united, the strong is the threshold of our integrity.

We can achieve many things when we stand united rather than trying to achieve it individually. This shows that unity is strength. It is easy to attack a person when he is alone but when he is in a group, no one will try to attack him as they know it is not an easy task. I will give you an example: A small piece of wood is easy to break but if we join many such small pieces together and tie it, we will not be able to break it. This proves that even a weak man, can have strength when he is in a group. It makes us easy to face challenges and to fight against evils.

We have heard of the word 'national integration'. It means creating a common identity among the people of a country. We all are Indians, and if we all stand together, no external factor can affect us. We can even fight and eradicate the evils in our society. Together we are stronger, hence we need to preach and follow this message in our life to be successful.

Indeed, Unity is very important if we want achieve success as a nation or achieve global peace. Unity is a must in all walks of life. We stay united and happily at home by dividing the responsibilities and spreading love amongst family members. Many of us do the same thing at work, where generally we work in teams or groups to run our office / organisation / company / institution. The same unity should be practised while living in our town, city, country and world. If we simply stay united, we can achieve great development.

With general elections 2014 round the corner, it is time for India to display Unity in diversity. We need to bring about a big change that shall make India one of the most beautiful, loving, peaceful and satisfied countries to live in.

A very good article on the importance of unity. The more we are united the more powerful we would be. As far as our country is concerned, we are all bonded by the golden threshold 'the unity in diversity' and our integrity is always at its high spirit.
Mahatma Gandhi was our guiding force and he was the man who inculcated the spirit of unity among us to fight against British. With unity only, we achieved 'swaraj'. With the same basic principle, we should move forward and fight against all evil forces like terrorism, extremism and other disruptive elements. We may have differences in our language, culture and traditions but our motto is one to save India against all odds.
