Are you looking for information on the housing scheme details of the MHADA lottery 2014? The date of registration for the MHADA lottery is 28th April, 2014. This article provides complete details of the MHADA lottery schedule for Konkan Housing Board and Mumbai Housing Board low cost homes in Mumbai and Virar. You will get information on the application fee, where the application form is available, procedure to submit the application, etc.

Updated 29/05/2014: As per the official website of MHADA, the date for the registration for the online application for this lottery has been extended to 7th June, 2014 & the date for the online application has been extended to 9th June, 2014. Please re-check schedule at the end of this article. Also, prices of some of the tenements have been lowered.

Owning a home in the commercial capital of India, namely Mumbai, is a big dream of many a resident of Maharashtra. This dream has been realized in reality for a lucky group of people who submit applications for the annual lottery scheme initiated by MHADA. Through this scheme, they are able to buy a home within Mumbai or in the suburbs at a price much lower than those offered by private builders. The Konkan Housing Board, which is a regional unit of MHADA, has also been part of the scheme in some years, offering budget homes to buyers in places within its purview. As per news reports, MHADA wishes to adhere to the code of conduct for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections & hence will issue the advertisement notification for the lottery before the code of conduct comes into force.

Another popular lottery scheme is that of CIDCO, of which the details of its latest lottery are here: 2014 CIDCO Kharghar lottery

Hi, Is there any new update on this yet ? Is this just Virar or its other places in mumbai too?

Author: Vandana  18 Feb 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3
Vipin, unfortunately there is no update from MHADA as yet. However, I think MHADA will need to announce the lottery before the election code comes into effect.

Regarding the locations: I don't think the lottery will only be for Virar homes. I think it includes some locations in Mumbai too, like for last year's lottery.

I will definitely put in the updates as soon as I get the requisite information.

Guest Author: Parth Sheth   22 Feb 2014
Respected sir/maam,
I want to know that have there been the forms of the MHADA in VIDHYAVIHAR OR GHATKOPAR(CENTRAL LINE).
Will you please let me know that there are more forms in Mumbai or in its suburbs? Or when will be the date released of Vidhyavihar form? Please let know as soon as possible since it would be changing my career option.
Thank you very much sir/maam.

Parth Sheth,
As I mentioned in my response earlier, as yet MHADA has not yet released the official notification. It is not know why there is a delay in announcing the lottery details. I will update the details in the above article as & when the information is released by MHADA.

Can you tell me if I have a name in my parents ration card so can I apply for the mhada lottery. Please reply

Author: Vandana  24 Feb 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 4
Mohammad Arif,
As far as I am aware, the address proof should have your name on it if you are the applicant. Similarly, you should have a PAN card in your name as you will need to submit the PAN number at the time of application. I am sure the documentary proofs required for this year's lottery will be the same as last year, so to get an idea check this article: How to submit application & documents required after 2013 MHADA lottery results

How to submit DD on bank account? What is the procedure?

Will income certificate from present employer on his company letterhead do for income proof?

Guest Author: Santhana   25 Feb 2014
What would be the price for MIG and HIG in Sion for this year's lottery?

Author: Vandana  25 Feb 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3
@ Vrinda: I doubt a company letterhead showing your income details could be valid proof. I think you need a proper officially attested income proof form. You can confirm this by calling up the MHADA official at the contact numbers I have provided.

@ Santhana: When MHADA begins the online application process, the details for MIG and HIG homes in Sion area will be known. Accordingly, I will update the information in this article. You can bookmark this page and check back for updates later.

Author: Vandana  25 Feb 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3
@ Anand: You have to draw up the DD at your bank of the amount you need to pay, which will include the EMD + application processing fee. This DD will then have to be submitted by you at the designated bank as stated by MHADA, along with the acknowledgement slip of your application.

The designated bank will be known once the online application process begins. I will update the details in the article at that time.

I want to know what are the documents required for applying mhada flats 2014 in mumbai.

Author: Vandana  27 Feb 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 5
Asha, when MHADA releases the official notification, I will update the article on which documents are required for applying. It is likely to be the same as last year:
  • Domicile Certificate

  • Income certificate

  • ID proof

  • Any requisite certificates (such as caste certificate, birth certificate, etc)

Note that the above is what you will need to furnish on getting a home allotment through the lottery. MHADA informs the lottery winners about the documents required via email intimation. For the online application itself, you will likely need to have a PAN card and will also likely need to fill in Bank account details. I do not think you will need to submit any documents during the online application process itself, but will need to show some ID proofs when making the initial payment at the Bank.

How to submit DD on bank account? What is the procedure?

Author: Vandana  28 Feb 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 2
Shubhangi, you will get the correct guidance from the Bank where you have an account. They will issue the DD (Demand Draft). It does not require your signature on it, but that of the Banker.

You will find this simple explanation helpful:

Where exactly are the flats located in Santacruz? I read in newspapers that the carpet area is 750 sq. ft. and they are priced at around 75 lacs, but dont know the exact location.

Thanks for the initiative.

Hi Vandana,

Thanks you are doing a good job.
Please help me in clearing doubts.
1. I am unmarried and my individual income falls in LIG. If I add my father and mother's income, then we fall in MIG category. Can I add my parents' income with my income and apply in my name in the MIG category?
2. Can my mom add my as well as dad's income and apply in MIG?

Author: Vandana  19 Mar 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 1
As yet I have not come across any information about the specific location in Santacruz. I will update the details when the details are known.

Author: Vandana  19 Mar 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 1
As per what I have understood from the rules, it is the combined income of all family members which will be considered.

Author: Vandana  19 Mar 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 2
Readers should note that details of the locations & income groups for both Mumbai Housing Board & Konkan Housing Board have now been updated in this article. The image in the article can be enlarged to see the rates for each location & EMD to be paid.

Hi, when exactly is the online lottery going to start?

Guest Author: Mich   20 Mar 2014
1) Can NRI apply for 2014 MHADA Mumbai lottery?
2) If yes, then which bank account details should the NRI submit. Why Mhada is not allowing NRI bank account details from NRI?

Author: Vandana  20 Mar 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 1
I have given the information in the article: the application will begin online from April 15th, 2014 & lottery results will be at May-end.

Author: Vandana  20 Mar 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 2
I think it will be allowed, as long as the criteria of residency in Maharashtra is fulfilled. However, please confirm this by calling up the Helpline Phone Number I have provided at the end of the article.

Guest Author: Sujit sawant   01 Apr 2014
Hi I'm Sujit. I will be applying for this year' MHADA lottery. However, I don't have a domicile certificate. I was born & live in Maharashtra itself & so have my parents. Do I still need a domicile certificate?

Author: Vandana  06 Apr 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 5
As I mentioned in the article, the domicile certificate is mandatory. You will definitely need it. I suggest you apply for one right away. In fact, every citizen of India must have a domicile certificate of the State of his/her residence. It is extremely important to have this document in the case of some applications, especially for some Government jobs, perhaps to buy property, etc.

To obtain a domicile certificate of Maharashtra State, you need to visit the office of any of the following:
(1) Sub-Divisional Magistrate
(2) Tahsildar
(3) Revenue Department
(4) District Collector

If you have a local political party's office in your area, you can also approach them to guide you.

Mich & Vinod,
The MHADA website has given an update about the lottery with a notification that the lottery process is on hold. They are waiting for clearance from the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra. Apparently the process cannot take place during election time due to the election code of conduct. We will have to wait for further notification as to when the process will begin.

Author: Vandana  21 Apr 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3
Anybody can apply for the MHADA lottery as long as they fulfil the eligibility criteria and have the requisite documents. One of these documents is domicile certificate of Maharashtra. So if you do not have proof that you have stayed in Maharashtra within the last 20 years, including 15 years continuous stay in the State, then there is no point in your applying for the lottery.

My mummy and daddy have retired. They have their funds. Can they apply for home in vengurla as it is their native?

Author: Vandana  28 Apr 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 2
@ Prakash: You cannot make multiple applications in your name in the same income category. I do not know what you mean by "wig" as there is no such income category. You can apply in the category to which your family income is applicable.

Author: Vandana  28 Apr 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 4
@ Manish:
1. If you have applied but not received your Aadhar Card, you can inform MHADA about it. I think a Voter's ID card should also be valid.

2. I do not think there is any restriction on retired people applying, as long as they fulfill the domicile & other criteria. Also, your parents/family members should not be owning a house in Vengurla or in any area which comes under the Konkan Housing Board if they wish to apply for a home of this Board through the lottery.

You can clarify the information by calling up the Helpline provided between 9.30a.m. and 7p.m.

HI Vandana,

Great Initiative!!

I have following questions :

1. If I apply in two schemes, will I have to pay two different EMDs,as I am eligible and wish to apply for Santacruz & Powai?
2. If my (Basic + D.A. + City Allowance + Bonus) is considered then I fall in MIG but if my in hand monthly income is considered then I fall in HIG. Please advise.
3. If I am not lucky enough to win the lottery then, When shall I expect EMD to be refumded to me. Also specify interest rate that will be given along with EMD.

Thanks in Advance.

Kindly share the knowledge if you have regarding this...

Is domicile certificate necessary? If yes, what is the alternate option for that?

Author: Vandana  25 May 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 7
Answers to all the recent queries:
1. I have no idea about the percentage of amount charged if payment is made by credit card.
2. Yes, you will likely have to pay 2 different EMDs for the different flats.
3. Income means Basic + D.A. + City Allowance + Bonus
4. If you do not get a flat allotted through the lottery, the EMD is returned within 2 weeks as per what is mentioned at the MHADA official website.
5. Yes, domicile certificate is mandatory as per the lottery instructions. If you do not have one, I suggest you apply for one right away [The online form in Marathi is available here:]. I suggest your read this useful information:

My advice would be to also keep your school leaving certificate (SLC) in readiness as this will have your date of birth & is considered as an alternative now for the domicile certificate for certain types of admissions, recruitment, etc. Perhaps the SLC can be shown till you get the domicile certificate in hand (not 100% sure if this would be acceptable though!)

Sunil Kumar Gupta,
Please refer to the official MHADA site as it depends on which income category you are applying through and for which area.

I am unmarried man my income falls in LIG group. I live in dad's house my dad got expired so can I apply for house and is it mandatory to include my brothers income in my form. Please suggest.

Author: Vandana  30 May 2014   Member Level: Platinum   Points : 0
I am not sure but when they say "family income" I assume it refers to the income of all the family members who stay together in one home.

Author: Saji Ganesh  30 May 2014   Member Level: Diamond   Points : 5
Though with no direct link to the question by Asif in particular, I don't think that you have to include your brother's income in the form. By applying for a house of your own you are implying that you plan to settle separately. Family income might include the income of your parents and spouse but not necessarily that of your brother. This is an evident loop hole but nevertheless not illegal, I suppose. Income is calculated separately once you are major and start earning on your own.

Please help me with the following question:

Well in my salary structure, there is no component for D.A and city allowance. Instead, i have components like HRA, Medical, LTA, Special Allowance, Food Coupons, Provident Fund and Statutory bonus. So, can we consider the monthly total of these components to fall in a particular income group.

Pravin S,
The rule clearly states "You and your spouse should not be the owner of a house, flat or residential plot of land (the ownership should not be in your name/ name of spouse) which lies in the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM)."

Since you are the spouse of the applicant (your wife) & are owning a property in your name which is within the MCGM jurisdiction, your wife is not eligible to apply.

Answers to a few of the latest queries (sorry for the late response):
@ Pravin: 7th was the last date to register, 9th was the last date to submit the application.
@ Pooja: please inform the MHADA officials that since you lost your card you will be using a different mode of payment (that is, in case you were unable to change the mode of payment before the last date of 9th June)
@ Tanu: not sure of this, sorry.

Readers are requested to see information on the 2015 MHADA lottery in these articles and post comments there for this year's lottery:
1. 2015 MHADA lottery housing scheme application information

2. How to submit May 2015 MHADA lottery online application form for Mumbai housing scheme

3. 2015 MHADA online housing lottery for physically handicapped persons

It refers to the physically handicapped category. This year, in 2015, MHADA is conducting a separate lottery just for physically handicapped persons. Flats are available for them in Mumbai and at Mira Road (Konkan Housing Board). Please refer to the article to which I have given a link in the above response.

Ordinarily, what is the time gap between issuing advertisements for sale of flats, receipt of allotment, conduct of lottery and its results and delivery of flats.
