How to register online for Mumbai University degree colleges admissions

After 2017 HSC Results, want to get admission to the 2017 academic first year of a degree college affiliated to Mumbai University? This article provides the step by step guidance on the 2017 Mumbai University online admission procedure once you get the results of your Std.XII exams. You will also know the schedule with dates for the admissions.

Once the Standard XII Maharashtra State Board exam results are declared, students make a beeline to various colleges for admission to the first year degree programs. The entire admission process, though, is not online as most students wrongly think! It is partly online in the sense that the initial registration has to be done at the university website. The actual admission application has to be done physically at the college at which the student wishes to take up a degree program.

Step by Step guidance to Mumbai University 2016 first year degree colleges admissions

The process itself is just 2 steps:
  1. Register with your email ID and mobile phone number at the official website of the University of Mumbai's university from 1st June 2017 at 11a.m.

  2. On completing the online registration, you will recceive a user name and password via email and via your mobile phone.

  3. Upload your photo, signature, contact details, educational details & personal details.

  4. Select your course, then the affiliated college offering the course.

  5. Select the documents required to be attached with the application.

  6. Take a print out of the submitted form (take extra print outs in case needed) and attach the requisite documents with it.

  7. Go to the selected college, buy the college prospectus & submit the application form and documents.

Important Notes

  • Make sure you have a valid email ID and mobile phone number for the online registration process.

  • You need to submit your marksheets of both Class 10 and Class 12 during the online registration process.

  • During the online process, you need to select your college as well as the course. This data will be sent by the University to the college.

  • You need to attach a printout of the enrollment form (that is, the university registration form) when you submit an application physically at a college. For every application, you need to submit this form.

Sir/Mam I have completed my HSC in Gujarat from NIOS board and I am seeking admission in Mumbai and I did not get my marksheet of 12th till now so I am not getting registered to Mumbai university online. Please guide me what to do.

Can the application form be posted by speed post or courier for those who are outside Maharashtra?

Author: Vandana22 Jun 2016 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3

Nitish: you will need the 12th mark sheet to register online. I suggest you phone the officials at NIOS and make them understand the importance of the markshee for your further academics. You could request them to urgently send a scanned copy by email or even send it you by FAX if it is possible for you to have access to a FAX machine.

Zeenat: you simply proceed as instructed. I suggest you look up video instructions on the application process which are available at YouTube. Each year, the process is more or less the same.

Jyoti: I am not sure about whether or not the application form would be accepted by speed post or courier for candidates outside Maharashtra. Please call the helpline numbers and make inquiries.

Students should note that the last date for submission has been extended to 25th June.

Mam,
I have completed my HSC from Maharashtra Board of Education. I want to pursue a B.Sc in Psychology. All I wanted to know is that whether Mumbai University provides this degree. If not, where in Mumbai can I find colleges providing the mentioned course.

Author: Vandana04 Aug 2016 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3

Anjali,
I checked out the list of courses offered by Mumbai University and it seems B.Sc. Psychology is not offered. You could check reputed education portals to find out about colleges in Mumbai which may be offering this course, such as http://www.htcampus.com/

Author: Kailash Kumar04 Aug 2016 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 0

The University of Mumbai has introduced B.Sc. in psychology course in the 2011-12. The detailed syllabus of the same can be seen that - http://archive.mu.ac.in/4.70%20Psychology.pdf

Author: Vandana06 Aug 2016 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 2

Anjali,

The information given by Kailash Kumar above is incorrect. The University of Mumbai does not offer a B.Sc. in Psychology. Please refer to my detailed answer to the same query you submitted in our Ask Expert section: Colleges in Maharashtra offering B.Sc Psychology course

Author: Kailash Kumar08 Aug 2016 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 2

It appears that the Academic Council of the University of Mumbai had mooted a B.Sc.(Psychology) course and had even gone to the extent of drafting its syllabus also, but later due to certain reasons, the course was not introduced as proposed. I also thoroughly checked the website of the University of Mumbai and could not find any evidence that the course is presently being offered. However, misleading information about the University of Mumbai offering the B.Sc. (Psychology) program is doing round in few internet resources.
However, the University of Calicut in Kerala is offering such a course e.g. the Little Flower Institute of Social Sciences and Health (LISSAH) offers such a course.

What is to be done for a non Mumbaikar seeking UG admission in a Mumbai University, as he/she cannot apply for any reserved category in the same. Is it necessary to apply on pre-online registration form before applying to a specific university if the applicant is a non resident of Mumbai? Please clear my doubts.

Where can I find university registration number for online registration procedure?

Author: Vandana18 Jun 2017 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 5

Krish - You can select only up to ten colleges.

Sushma Shivkar - All admission is via the online process only. Since offline admission is considered to be illegal, you do need to accordingly mention if passed or failed. However, I am not sure if you can select the option 'Result awaited' if you are planning to appear for the re-exam. Please call up the contact numbers provided in the article for correct guidance.

Aiswarya - all admissions are online only, whether it is for a student from Mumbai or from outside Mumbai. Please call up the contact numbers provided in the article for enquiries about the reservation category.

Gargi - Exactly which university registration number are you asking about? If you are having any confusion in filling up the online admission process, please contact the helpline numbers provided in the article.

When you have applied to 4 colleges, with different cut offs, and your target is to get admission in the no. 1 college with the highest cut off out of the four. Suppose you get selected in a least preferred course in house and that list comes before the first list of university and you have to secure your admission in that in house quota and later in the first list your name appears in the college of least preference. Is it necessary to take admission in that college to stay in the system or it's ok if you just skip it and wait for another college? This query is for Mumbai university commerce F.Y. degree courses - how many times can I take provisional admission?

Guest Author: Tarun24 Jun 2017

What if u get your name in the 1st merit list but you don't want that college & wait for a better one. Then do we have to secure admission in that college or do nothing? What to do next to get your name in 2nd merit list? Please guide.

Author: Vandana25 Jun 2017 Member Level: Platinum   Points : 3

Kirti and Tarun - Once you are given a selected college, you need to pay the fees and submit the necessary documents as per the dates given for this. If you do not do so, then it is assumed that you did not want admission to that college. You wait, hoping to get a better college. However, suppose you get a college that is not even remotely on your radar of choice and you rue the fact that the college selected for you in the first instance was better. Then what? So it is really up to you what you wish to do.
