Invitation The Organizing Committee of the 3rd International Congress on Bioprocesses in Food Industries (ICBF-2008) and 5th Convention of The Biotech Research Society has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the above Conference at the Osmania University, Hyderabad, India during November 6th-8th, 2008. Leading Scientists from various Universities, Institutions and Industries from all over the world will participate in the Conference and will address the delegates.
In this Conference, we hope to present a unique in nature spectrum of Scientific Programme on the interface of Chemistry and Biology. The Conference is expected to display the numerous breakthroughs and dramatic developments in these important areas and their relevance to the welfare of mankind.

About ICBF-2008 Event About the Event The International Forum on Bioprocesses in Food Industries and the Osmania University, Hyderabad, India are proud to announce the Third Biennial International Congress on Bioprocesses in Food Industries (ICBF-2008), to be held from 6th-8th November, 2008 at Osmania University Hyderabad. It will be the Third congress of this kind organized under the auspicious of the ICBF Forum. The first was at Clermont Ferrand, France during July 11th-13th, 2004, second was at Patras, Greece during 18th-21st June, 2006. Local organizing committee is making arrangements not only to provide the finest facilities to the attendants but also to create the perfect environment for a successful and productive event as well as a pleasant and interesting stay both for themselves and for their accompanied persons. We invite all working in the field to participate in the congress and explore the scientific excellence growing in the field through interaction with other participants.
About the Organizers 1. International Forum on Bioprocesses in Food Industries (www.icbfforum.org)
ICBF Forum was formed during July 2004 at the University Blaise Pascal, Clermont Ferrand, France when an international congress (ICBF-2004) was held; Professor Christian Larroche, UPB was its Convener and Professor Ashok Pandey, Head, Biotechnology Division of the NIIST, CSIR, Trivandrum, India was Co-Convener.
2. The Biotech Research Society (www.brsi.in)
The Biotech Research Society is an Indian Scientific Academy dedicated to promote excellence and competence in the field of Biotechnology for the benefit of mankind. The Biotech Research Society (BRSI) is a scientific professional society established in 2003. This association is affiliated to the International Congress on Bioprocesses in Food Industries (ICBF Forum, France). Every year under the auspicious of the BRSI, an annual convention is conducted and the fifth in this series will be jointly organized by the Department of Microbiology and University college of Technology, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India
3. Osmania University
Osmania University founded in 1918 is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in south India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad and is named after Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan, who ruled the area during 1911-1948. The University buildings are splendid examples of Indo–Persian and Arabic architecture, with a sprawling campus of nearly 1,600 acres, Osmania University is perhaps the largest higher education system in the country. It is a home to nearly 3,00,000 students pursuing their higher studies in its Campus, Constituent, Affiliated Colleges and District Centers. Its faculty and staff number is nearly 5,000. It is a multi-faculty and multidisciplinary university, offering rich and varied courses in the fields of Humanities, Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Technology, Commerce and Business Management, Information Technology and Oriental Languages.
The University's strategic planning, teaching-and-learning policies and research direction have always emphasized respect for the concerns of the society and the need to address the issues that challenge it. The campus also has botanical garden and land scape garden. In recognition with excellent academic achievements, Osmania University had the distinction of being awarded the FIVE STAR status by National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission, Government of India in the year 2001.
About the Department of Microbiology The Department of Microbiology was established in the year 1974 and it was the first Department to offer MSc Microbiology in South India. It imparts training in MSc and PhD level. The faculty of the Department is involved in active research in various areas of Microbiology. The research projects of the faculty of the department are supported by different national funding agencies. The department had UGC-DRS program and special assistance from DBT to strengthen teaching and research in Microbiology. The department is known for its academic excellence. So far, it has published more than 400 research papers, 20 books and produced more than 500 MSc and 75 PhD students. The Department of Microbiology in association with College of Technology, Osmania University is organizing 3rd ICBF 2008 & 5th BRSI annual convention together in November, 2008.
About the University College of Technology The University College of Technology is one of the premier and the oldest colleges offering Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology education in the country. It is a constituent college under the Faculty of Technology, Osmania University. The College of Technology had a modest beginning in 1943 as a post-graduate section of Applied Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, Osmania University. In September 1969, the University upgraded the Department of Chemical Technology into the University College of Technology. The College is known for its excellence in teaching and training the students in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology at the under-graduate and post-graduate levels. In order to meet the changing requirements of the country, the BTech degree courses in Food Processing and Preservation Technology and Textile Technology were started in the College during 1994-95 & MTech Biotechnology in 2006.

Call for Papers
Conference Participation and Submission of Abstracts Participation is open to any one involved in the R & D, Teaching, Consultancy, Planning etc. from all over the world. Prospective participants are invited to contribute papers to be presented as posters. Abstract of the paper (about 250 words) should be prepared using MS Word and send to the convener of the conference by email to icbfabs@gmail.com as file attachment. Abstracts should also be sent by regular post but in such cases, authors must provide a CD containing the abstract. Please underline the name of the presenting author strictly one paper will be accepted from an individual for presentation.
The last date for submission of abstract is 20-08-2008.
Preparation of Posters The space available for each poster would be of 3 x 4 feet. Each poster would be alloted a number, which would be mounted on the top of the board by the organizers. Top section of the poster should indicate its title, authors and address. It is suggested to divide the contents of the poster into Introduction, Results and Conclusions. The poster should be put up every day in the morning between 08:00 - 09:00 Hrs and taken down after 17:00 Hrs same day. The authors are expected to be present near their posters during the poster session.
Acceptance notification will be finalized by 05/09/2008.
