A normal human should pass stools at least two times a day. He should pass urine every hour or so.   4. Chocolates:
    Chocolates have been linked to constipation though it has not been proved. However cut back on chocolates if you have constipation.

  5. Vitamin tablets:
    Vitamins in general dont cause constipation but iron and calcium cause constipation.

  6. Overuse of laxatives:
    Laxatives are substances which help to soften the stools. However some laxatives work by stimulating the bowel activity.These stimulant laxatives make body dependent on them and hence cautioned against its overuse.

    High intake of low fiber foods like eggs and meat can slow down the digestion which causes constipation.

    Antacids containing calcium & aluminium cause Constipation.

    Constipation can also be caused by tablets used for treating High blood pressure. Similarly intake of diuretics and antihistamines can also cause constipation.

  12. Inflammatory bowel disease:
    Inflammatory bowel disease also causes Constipation.

  13. Childbirth:
    The usage of pain relievers or an anesthetic during child birth also causes constipation.

Constipation Remedies:

Here is the list of Remedies for constipation:
  1. Lemon Water:
    Lemon is a stimulant for the digestion and it also helps to flush out the toxins from our body.
    Warm some water ,add lemon juice and honey to it. Honey is a mild laxative .
    Instead of honey you can also use a pinch of salt.Salt contains magnesium which helps to flush out toxins.

  2. Ayurveda:
    Try having two to three tablets of triphala with warm water at night. Triphala has anti-fungal,anti-parasitic as well as antibacterial properties. It can also be used to treat diarrhea.

  3. Oils:
    Its importent for our digestive tracks to be oily .This helps in good bowel movement.Add ghee or olive oil to your diet. Castor oil is also good in relieving constipation.

  4. High intake of fiber:
    A woman needs about 25 grams of fiber a day . A man needs about 35 grams of fiber a day. Foods such as Lentils Spinach broccoli,prunes raisins and flax seeds are rich in fibers.

  5. Baking soda:
    Baking soda is nothing but sodium bicarbonate.It produces salt , water and carbon dioxide which helps in bowel movement and flushes out the toxins.
    Take one spoon of baking soda with one-fourth warm water.This is also used to cure mild stomach pain.

  6. Yoga:
    A good exercise is essential for proper bowel movement.movement. Yogasanas such as pranayanama,pavan muktasana, balasana, ardha matsyendrasana....etc are among many for curing constipation.

  7. Cut down beverages such as coffee tea and alcohol since they worsen the constipation

  8. Last but not the least drink three litres of water a day for smooth bowel movement.

Constipation is a growing and harassing problem faced by many these days due to hectic lifestyle and erratic and irregular food consumption.

Initially people keep it confidential and try their own self remedies and only when they do not become effective or the problem aggravates, they see a doctor.

The tips given in this article can be tried, but for a permanent solution one need to change the life style and food habits under advice of a qualified and experienced doctor.

Sometimes constipation may be just the initial signals of some very serious health issue also.
