How to register online for Maharashtra MCA-CET 2016 for MCA courses admissions

Are you seeking admissions to MCA courses in colleges in Maharashtra? You will first need to appear for the MAH-MCA-CET 2016 entrance exam. This article provides complete information of the entrance test, including eligibility requirements, paper format, fees and application procedure.

The Government of Maharashtra's State Common Entrance Test Cell has issued the notification for MAH-MCA-CET 2016 for admission to MCA courses. Students can register for the CET for admission to First Year/ Direct Second Year (separate division and lateral entry) of 3 year full time Post Graduate degree course in Master of Computer Applications (MCA) in the Government institutes, Government-aided institutes, University-managed institutes, University departments and Unaided institutes in Maharashtra.

Eligibility requirements for MAH-MCA-CET 2016

  1. Citizenship: You must be an Indian national.

  2. Educational Qualification:
    • You must have passed a 3-year Bachelors Degree awarded by University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (minimum 45% for OBC category candidates & PWD candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only).

    • You should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at the 10+2 level or at Graduate level exam.

    • If you are applying for Direct second year admission, then you should have passed Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science).

Note: Those appearing for their final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible to appear for CET.

CET format

  1. The MAH-MCA-CET 2016 will be conducted in the online mode in multiple sessions at all exam centres.

  2. The CET will include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and will be set in English only.

  3. There will be 2 online papers, namely: General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC) of 100 marks each, with composite time of 90 minutes duration. Each paper will have 25 questions.

  4. A standardized equi-percentile method will be used for equating the scores across sessions.

  5. There will be negative marking system for the CET. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks and each wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark. Unanswered questions will carry zero marks.

Application fee

  • The fee is Rs. 750/- for students from outside Maharashtra State, open category candidates from Maharashtra State and J & K migrant candidates.

  • The fee is Rs. 550/- for students belonging to Maharashtra State of Backward classes categories and PWD candidates.

How to apply

  1. You must fill in the online application form at: Applications sent by post or by courier or other modes will not be accepted.

  2. Confirmation of application will be done once the payment of fees for CET is made. The application form processing fee is to be paid through the online mode only by Internet payment, credit card / debit card, Internet Banking, IMPS, cash cards/mobile wallets. For the payment, the service charges will be applicable in addition to the application form processing fees. Note that no other mode of payment other than online mode will be allowed & the fee paid is non-refundable.

Important dates

  • Online registration: 29th February 2016 to 10th March 2016

  • Issue of Hall Ticket through login of successfully registered candidates: 18th March 2016 onwards.

  • Date of online MAH-MCA-CET 2016: 27th March 2016

  • Declaration of result on the official website: 10th April 2016, 2p.m.
