Central Govt. jobs conducted by UPSC - Degree qualification

Once you have completed your bachelor degree then you can try for central government jobs starting from civil services to many. Care of address for this is UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).
There are number of jobs that you can apply once you have completed your bachelor degree. Some of them which are conducted by UPSC are as follows:

Civil Services

IAS is one of the nice jobs that you can have. This is one of the craziest exams for those who are doing professional courses like Degree, B.Tech, MBBS etc. We can also see a gradual increase of candidates those who are aspiring for Indian Services. Through this exam, selections are done in more than 20 services like IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc.
  1. Educational Qualifications: Any Bachelor degree
  2. Age Limit: 21-32 years
  3. Date of Announcement :
  4. Generally, every year in the month of Jan/Feb the announcement will be declared. Notification will be released out in the month of May and in the month of Aug preliminary exam will be conducted by UPSC
  5. Selection Process: It will be in three phases.
    • Preliminary Examination: Objective questions contains two papers for 400 marks from the topics General Knowledge, General awareness, current affairs, comprehension, Mental ability etc.
    • Mains: Completely theory papers. Overall marks for all 7 papers will be 1750.
    • Personality Test: Interview will be conducted for those who qualified in the mains. Interview marks will be 275.

CAPF Assistant Commandants

CAPF (Central Armed Police Force, Once you successfully completed in this exam you can enter in the central government service as a Group – A assistant commandment officer in
  1. Central Reserve Force
  2. Border Security Force
  3. Central Industrial Security Force
  4. Indo-tibittian police force. Etc

Educational Qualification: Any bachelor's degree
Age Limit: 21-25 years

Selection Process

In this examination, the process of selection will be done in two phases.
That is:
  1. written test
  2. Interview
Written test consists of two papers.
Paper – 1: General Ability and Intelligence (125 questions with 250 Marks)
The candidate should have an overall idea about Indian History, Economy, Geography, Science, Mathematics, Reasoning, Environment, Current Affairs etc. To secure high marks, follow NCERT books (6th -12th standard) to get idea on basic concepts and formulas.
Paper – 2: Essay, Precise Writing and Reading Comprehension (200 Marks)
You need to write an essay form the given topics which should not exceed 300 words. Remaining questions will be based on Precise Writing, Report Writing and Reading Comprehension. To secure high marks in this category, you should have basic English grammar skills.

Best tip to secure high marks in this section:Read Editorials, essays in English News paper and write it in your own way which should not exceed more than 300 words. Finally, Interview(150 Marks) will be conducted for those who secured good marks in the written examination. The candidates will be called for interview based on number of vacancies and reservation.

Indian Forest Service (IFS)

If you want to start your career as a Divisional Officer or Deputy conservator of forest officer then this is the right exam that you should write and select for.
Eligibility Criteria: One should have studied any one of the subject from the following list in his bachelor degree and the subjects are:
  1. Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
  2. Botany
  3. Chemistry
  4. Zoology
  5. Mathematics
  6. Physics
  7. Statistics
  8. B.Sc (Agriculture)
  9. B.Sc (Forestry)
  10. Engineering bachelor degree holders
Age Limit: 21-30 years

Selection Process

Selection process will be conducted in three phases i.e; Preliminary, mains and Interview.
PreliminarySame as which is conducted for IAS
Mains: It is a descriptive paper for 1400 marks which contains 6 papers. Paper -1 is General English and consists of 300 marks. Paper-2 is General Knowledge and consists of 300 marks. All candidates should write these two papers compulsory. Paper – 3 to Paper – 6 are optional and 200 marks will be allotted for each paper.
Personality Test: In order to attend final interview one should get good score in mains. It will be conducted for 300 marks. Based on the score that you have got in mains, number of vacancies and reservation the candidate will be called for final interview i.e; personality test.

CMS (Combined Medical Services Examination)

Once you pass this exam successfully, you can start your career as
  1. an Asst. Divisional officer in Indian Railways
  2. Ordinance factories in Health Services
  3. Jr. scale in Central Health services
  4. Medical officer in Delhi municipal corporation
  5. General duty medical officer in NDMC
Educational qualification to attend this examination is: MBBS with age limit 32 years.
Selection Process: Selection process will be in two phases i.e; written test and final interview. Written test contains two papers with 250 marks. Syllabus for paper – 1 is General ability with 30 questions, General Medicine with 70questions and Pediatrics with 20 questions. Paper – 2 contains core medical subjects like Surgery, Gynecology & Abstritrics, Preventives, Social Medicine and 40 questions from each subject.

ESE (Engineering Services Examination)

This exam is mainly conducted for those who successfully completed their engineering bachelor degree from the various groups like Electrical, Electronics and Communications, Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Once you successfully completed this exam, you can start your career as a Group – 1 officer ( Asst. Engineer or Asst. Executive Engineer) in various central Govt. Engineering branches like
  1. Indian Ordinance factories
  2. Military Engineering
  3. Border roads engineering
  4. Geological survey of India
Selection Process: First of all written test will be conducted and if your qualified for the next round you will get call letter for the Interview.

Written test pattern

Written test pattern will be somewhat different from the other previous exams which I have described above. In this exam, written test will be conducted in two sections named as section -1 and section -2.
Section – 1 contains three papers. Paper-1 with General ability and General English, paper – 2 and paper-3 with subject papers which you have selected from your core subjects. Objective questions will be given in section -1 for all three papers. Each paper consists of 200 marks. So totally section – 1 is conducted for 600 marks.
You should have to write Section -2 (paper-1 and paper-2) in conventional manner and each paper consists of 200 marks.
Those who are passed and got high score in the written examination which is conducted for 1000 marks, those will be called for final Interview i.e; personality test.
