Applications invited to become Distributor for Govt. of India Jan Aushadhi medicines store


Would you like to be a retail distributor of the Govt. of India Jan Aushadhi scheme? This article provides details of the latest notification inviting applications from qualified persons to open a Jan Aushadhi store and become a distributor for generic drugs at low cost.

Overview

Jan Aushadhi is a major program of the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers for the goal of providing quality medicines at affordable prices for all. As per the latest numbers, over 285 Jan Aushadhi stores have been set up in various parts of India. Products provided through the Jan Aushadhi scheme are more than 550.

Now the Govt. of India has an ambitious plan to open 3000 Jan Aushadhi stores (JAS) during the current year of 2016-2017. With this goal, the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), Department of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India invites applications for Distributors in different States and Union Territories of India.

  9. Kerala

  12. Telangana

  13. Andhra Pradesh

  14. Chhattisgarh

  15. Jharkhand

  16. West Bengal

  17. Madhya Pradesh

  18. Assam

  19. All North Eastern states except Arunachal Pradesh

Eligibility requirements to be a Distributor

Who can apply

  1. You can be an NGO, charitable society, institution or self-help group with at least 3 years of successful operation in welfare activities, supported by audited accounts for the last 3 years.

  2. You can be a State Government-nominated agency. The State Government should identify the appropriate operating agency & make provision for free space within hospital premises.

Qualification eligibility and what you need

  1. You must be should be an income tax assessee for last 3 years. As supporting documents, you will need to submit Copy of Income Tax Returns filed for the last 3 Years

  2. You should not have been convicted by any court of law or any statutory authorities under Drugs & Cosmetic Act related offences of Pharma Companies.

  3. Valid wholesale Drug License (20B and 21B) as per Drugs and Cosmetic Act from the requisite authority. The retail drug license should be in the name of the applicant and/or Tin No.

  4. Valid VAT Registration.

  5. You must be an authorized Distributor since at least minimum 3 years for reputed pharmaceutical companies & have been dealing with at least minimum 2 reputed Pharmaceutical companies with operations all over the country.

  6. You should have been handling an annual average sales turnover of pharmaceutical items not less than Rs. 2.5 Crores per annum for Metro cities and minimum 1 Crore per annum for other cities.

  7. You must have adequate Storage facility as per Drugs and Cosmetic Act.

  8. You must have the requisite consent for co branding with JAS by JAS printing JAS MISSION statement on the sales Invoice.

  9. You must have an efficient delivery system with 12 working hours refill capacity for local retailer.

  10. Financial capacity to run the Store supported by audited accounts for the last 3 years. The supporting documents would be bank statements for the last 3 years or a bank sanction letter for extending loan in case of individuals.
