Indian students are being offered a wonderful study abroad scholarship opportunities to pursue a Master's program to study abroad in UK. The scholarship is offered by the Goa Education Trust, set up as a joint collaboration in 2009 by the Dempo and Fomento Group & the British Council. Initially it was offered only to students from Goa but since last year it is being offered to all Indian nationals. All Indian students who are applying for a Master's programme at University of Southampton are eligible for the scholarship. Three scholars will be selected for the scholarship, but more could be selected based on the quality of the applications received.

Scholarship amount

The scholarship is being offered to youngsters to pursue a post graduate program in UK, with the scholarship covering either part of the total tuition fees up to GBP 12500 (not more than this amount).

Eligibility requirements

  1. You must be an Indian national and should be in India at the time of the scholarship application.

  2. You should have a valid Indian passport.

  3. You should not be over 30 years of age at the time of the scholarship application.

  4. You should have an excellent academic record as well an excellent record in extra-curricular achievements.

  5. You should have identified a suitable post graduate program in the UK which begins in the month of September or October 2016. Note that at the time of interview for the scholarship, you will need to submit valid proof of admission/application to that program which you selected.

How to apply

  1. Visit the official website and download the application form

  2. Fill up the application form in every respect, ensuring that you put your photo in the requisite space provided for it.

  3. Scan the following list of documents so that you can email it along with your completed application form. You may read some good good email samples to prepare your application along with your completed application form.

    • A copy of your birth certificate. If you do not have this certificate, read how to apply for a birth certificate as this is a supporting document of your age.

    • A copy of your passport – this is a supporting document of your address.

    • A copy of your conditional/ unconditional admission letter from the UK institution (if this has already received by you).

    • One academic reference letter and one professional reference letter of not more than one A4 size page each. If you are a recent graduate, then you can submit 2 academic references.

  4. Now mail the entire set – the application form with photo and scanned documents – in one single email to: get.scholarship@britishcouncil.org

Note: The email should not exceed 10MB in totality.

Important notes

  • You must not send any additional needless documents other than those mentioned, namely the copy of your admission letter to a UK institute & your reference letters.

  • If you send your application without the requisite supporting documents, your application will be rejected.
