  3. College of technology student -
    • Level - undergraduate level leading to Associate Degree (Diploma)
    • Fields of study - mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, information, communication & network engineering, material engineering, architecture, civil engineering, maritime engineering, other fields.
    • Age - from 17 to 21 years ( i.e. between 02.04.1995 and 01.04.2000) .
    • Number of scholarships - about 3.
    • Application period - April/June
    • Application deadline - 17.06.2016.
  4. Specialized training college (Senshu-gakko) student -
    • Level - undergraduate level leading to certificate.
    • Fields of study - technology, personal care and nutrition, education and welfare, business, fashion and home economics, cultural and general education, other fields.
    • Age - from 17 to 21 years ( i.e. between 02.04.1995 and 01.04.2000) .
    • Number of scholarships - about 8.
    • Application period - April/June.
    • Application deadline - 17.06.2016.
  5. Japanese Studies Student -
    • Level - undergraduate level leading to certificate.
    • Fields of study - Japanese language and culture.
    • Age -from 18 to 29 years .
    • Number of scholarships - about 20.
    • Application period - January/February.
    • Application deadline - applications closed for 2016.
  6. Young leader's program student -
    • Level - masters degree course.
    • Fields of study -
      1. public administration
      2. local governance
      3. law
      4. business administration.
    • Age -Under 40 years for (i), (ii) and (iii) under 35 years for (iv).
    • Number of scholarships - about 6.
    • Application period - August/October.
    • Application deadline - applications closed for 2016.
  7. Teacher Training Student -
    • Level - undergraduate level leading to certificate.
    • Fields of study - education.
    • Age - under 35 years (i.e. born on or after 02.04.1981.
    • Number of scholarships - about 2.
    • Application period - January/March.
    • Application deadline - applications closed for 2016.

Important points

  1. All scholarship application procedures are conducted through the Japanese embassy/consulates or institutions of higher education in Japan.
  2. No application fee is charged. The applicants should therefore note that organizations or individuals who charge application fee or deposits have no connection with the Japanese Government.
  3. Tuition fee is exempted in case of all scholarships.
  4. Round trip airfare is provided in case of all scholarships.
  5. The amount of stipend varies according to the type of scholarship offered. Full details of the same are displayed in the advertisement of the specific scholarship. Generally it ranges from 117,000 Yen/month (Approx. Rs. 67,000 / month) to 242,000 Yen/month (approximate Rs.134,000/month).
