Bangladesh is an important neighbour of India. Bangladesh mainly attracts Indian student for study of medicine in various medical and dental colleges. Around thirteen seats are reserved for Indian students at Under Graduate level in Government Medical and Dental Colleges in Bangladesh. In addition, many hundreds of Indian students have been studying in private Medical Colleges in Bangladesh (Reference: Medical study in Bangladesh). Due to the positive environment existing between two countries, it is expected that more and more students from both countries will study in one another's country. Different types of visa

Bangladesh Government issues different types of visa. These are: (a) Tourist visa, (b) Business visa, (c) Employment visa, (d) Diplomatic, UN and Official visas, (e) Investor visa, (f) Missionaries visa, (g) Student visa and (h) Other categories visa. There are some common requirements for getting these visas.

Common requirements

(a) Passport with at least three months validity
(b) Two recent passport size photographs
(c) Photo copy of pages of passport having detail particulars
(d) Two filled-up visa application forms (available at High Commission, Deputy High Commissions and website: www.bhcdelhi.org). For Employment visa and student visa, three sets of application forms are required.
(e) Invitation and covering letters (preferably the original or fax copies)
(f) Exact amount of visa fee in cash. However, it may be noted that Indian nationals are exempted to pay visa fee for visiting Bangladesh.

Other requirements for Student visa

(i) Offer letter from the concerned Government recognized education institution in Bangladesh.
(ii) Bank solvency certificate of the guardian of the student.
(iii) Sponsoring certificate provide by the guardian confirming the commitment to bear the educational expenses.

Where to submit the application

The filled-in visa application forms (in triplicate for Student visa) along with other documents are require to be submitted to the High Commission, Deputy High Commissions and Representative Office of Bangladesh in India.
