How to apply for TOEFL scholarships to study abroad

Eager to study abroad and searching for a scholarship for Indian students? Educational Testing Service (ETS) TOEFL scholarships to study abroad are being offered to 15 students. Educational Testing Service (ETS) invites applications from eligible students who wish to study abroad for TOEFL scholarships. The scholarships are open to academically brilliant students who are TOEFL test takers planning to pursue undergraduate or graduate programs both in India and abroad.

There are 15 scholarships being offered.

The Award

The scholarship is US$7,000 for each student. The amount will be disbursed to the university directly in September 2016. The money can be utilized for academic expenses only & will be disbursed only after the student has arrived on the university campus.

Selection process

Those who apply for the TOEFL scholarship will be evaluated on the basis of:
  1. Your academic record.

  2. Your extracurricular activities, with focus on community service

  3. Your English communication skills

  4. Your leadership skills

  5. The innovative ideas you have as reflected in essays

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for applying for the TOEFL scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
  1. You must be a resident of India.

  2. You must begin your undergraduate or graduate study between June 2016 and May 2017 at a college or university which is listed in the TOEFL destination search at

  3. You must have a grade-point average of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale or a 3.0 grade-point average or higher on a 4-point scale.

  4. You must have English proficiency with a valid TOEFL score.

Important note: If you are a student on transfer, then you are not eligible for the TOEFL scholarship.

Submit your application for the scholarship online between 19th May 2016 and 21st June 2016 at

Semi-finalists will be intimated in June 2016. If you are one of them, you will need to submit additional information by 14th July 2016.

The final list of scholarship winners will be announced in August 2016.
