Preview

Going into the first match as favourites, India paid price of some sloppy batting as Zimbabwe secured a moral boosting victory after a disastrous One day series. The young Indian batting lineup played some really terrible shots at wrong time which cost them the match. Zimbabwe bowlers on the other hand were tight with their line and length. They gave no room to the batsmen as they had to create one of their own. Moving into the second match which will be played on the same venue, Zimbabwe will be confident while India will be under pressure to win the match to save the series. On papers, India still looks a better side but Zimbabwe have shown fight in the previous match which was lacking in the ODI series.

There are a few things for Indian team to short out before the match. Captain M.S.Dhoni pointed out at the end of the first match that most of the batsmen threw away their wickets and bowlers were not up to the mark in final overs either. He also added that it is a good learning curve for all these young players as a lot of them have moved on from domestic cricket to International cricket which is a tough move as the competition gets bigger. On the other hand Zimbabwe captain was quite relaxed after the match. He said that plenty of pressure is off from him. Creamer also louded Elton Chigumbura's efforts which turned the game around.

Players to watch out for

Manish Pandey : Manish Pandey's rise has continued in last two years. He is a much more confident player than he was since his hundred against Australia in January. In first match he top scored with 48 for India. He was going fluently before he threw his wicket away to finish the game in a hurry. Some really magnificent shots were on display until he was batting out there in the middle. Another good outing with the bat and he could be a regular face in India's playing XI for upcoming season.

Elton Chigumbura: Zimbabwe were looking for final over thrust to reach a decent total when Chigumbura arrived. He smashed 56 of just 26 balls to give Zimbabwe a huge total when they were struggling to put up even 150. He has some brute strength in his arms and he showed it when he spanked a low full toss of Bumrah over long off in the last match. The ball was nowhere around the middle of the bat. His captain Graeme Creamer has huge expectations from him in the second match and so does the fans.

Possible playing XI

India: Last game was a close game. Most of the batsmen got starts and looked good. Bowlers were fine too before that late surge from Chigumbura. Jaydev Udadkat looked good but went for runs in his last over and he might be replaced with another left arm fast bowler Barinder Saran. Here is the possible playing XI: Mandeep Singh, KL Rahul, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, M.S.Dhoni, Axar Patel, Rishi Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Undkat/Barinder Saran, Yazuvendra Chahal.

Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe might not want to change their winning combination. Richmond Mutumbani got injured in the previous game and it will be interesting to see if he will be able to recover in time or not. The possible XI could be Carlton Chibhabha, Hamilton Masakadza, Richmond Mutumbani/Timycen Maruma, Sikandar Raza, Malcom Waller, Tinodenda Mutombodzi, Elton Chigumbura, Graeme Creamer, Neville Madziva, Taurai Muzrabani, Donald Tiripano.

Pitch and conditions

The pitch is same which was used for the previous game and it is not going to change. Last game produced some runs and same could be expected for the second game. Another great day with temperature in mid twenties with plenty of sunshine is the forecast.

Head to head

India won their first three games they played against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe won next two. So its 3-2 head to head with India leading.
