The smell of grass itself is so calming and energizing. To connect to nature is one of the best ways to start your day or de-stress yourself after a hectic day. It is a great way to start your morning and end your evening as well. Early morning walk has many benefits in itself. One of the benefits is the generation of an overall happy feeling.

Why Earthing or walking barefoot on grass is beneficial for you?

Stimulates the Eyes and rest of the body

Our feet have many points called as pressure points which have a very strong connection with different organs inside the body. There are pressure points for the eyes, ears, lungs, nerves of the face, stomach, spleen, brain, kidneys, etc. So when we walk on the grass, these points are gently stimulated, helping your entire body stay healthy. Walking barefoot on grass provides a smooth and soft sensation that soothes our senses. It accentuates pressure on the first toes that are known to have an impact on the eyesight.
Nowadays we live in this so called concrete jungle where even a sight of green patch is so refreshing and a pleasant treat for the eyes.

Helps in relieving stress

Stress kills whatever little energy is left in the body, it hinders proper oxygen absorption resulting in interruption of proper blood flow to various parts of the body. When the brain fails to get the required dosage of oxygen it results in headache. While walking barefoot on the grass inhaling fresh air gives a chance to fight back unnecessary stress.

Neutralizes your electrical energies

The earth contains magnetic fields and has a certain flow of energy. Covering out feet with shoes and sandals takes away the natural connection to earth's energy. When we walk on grass barefoot, we directly get connected to the earth's magnetic field, which affects the entire electrical and magnetic field of our body. This helps in neutralizing the negative electrical impulses in our body which are known to cause certain ailments. Cleansing our bodies of negative electrical energies definitely has a positive effect on our overall health and well being.

Happy Feet

Walking is a great exercise and one of the best exercises. Walking bare foot on grass immediately gives us a warm feeling and a sense of well being. This contact with mother earth starts giving us health benefits like strengthening and stretching the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the feet, ankles and calves. This in turn helps in preventing injury, knee strain and back problems. Its supports our posture and gives a good feeling to our feet.

Go out and connect with mother earth but take care of your feet. Avoid walking on grass that is littered with bird droppings, dirt, etc. Do not forget to wash your feet thoroughly after the earthing session and most importantly never walk barefoot when you have an open cut on your soles.

Something as simple as a barefoot walk on grass is so good for the mind, body and soul.

After reading this article my thoughts went towards those people who uses the slippers or chappals for walking inside the house. I am totally against culture of using slippers or footwear for walking inside the room. In our religion we keep the foot wear outside and we won't enter the rooms with the foot wear on. So this holds good for walking on the grass too. Actually those who undertake walking must go barefoot only so that the soil and sand must touch our body through the foot and that will have a one to one contact with the soil and person. But we either prefer shoes or slippers while going for walking and do not give the chance to keep the foot on the ground. At least one must practice walking barefoot on the grass in which there is no harm.

Reading this recalled my personal experience.

During the early days of may career, I was staying in the staff quarters. There were very well maintained lawns. During the winter it was quite an experience to walk on the grass barefoot. I enjoyed the exhilarating experience of the wetness and coolness to the barefoot, the feet which otherwise were kept tight and closed inside shoes and socks for much of the time.

Ayurvedic doctors always tell us to keep the feet properly clean and healthy to have healthy eyes. While (as the saying goes) legs are to be warm and head to be kept 'cool', extreme heat and fatigue to the feet causes lot of health problems. Legs, especially, need relaxation also. One of the very suitable ways of relaxing our feet is to walk barefoot on cool grass early in the morning. One should be sure that the grass is smooth and there is nothing to hurt and injure our bare foot.
